I remember these children very well. I can even still remember the blankets that covered their bodies.
I was inside Al Shifa Hospital in the first days of the war when I saw them. It was extremely shocking for me, and their images have remained in my memory ever since.
We will never forget them.

UPDATE—Mother of 17 year old boy who was beaten by ICE on way to enlist in Marines—has been deported.
Son says agents warned her to "be quiet" and "even offered us money" to not talk.
His mother bravely spoke out anyway.
She was then targeted for arrest—deported the same day.

I usually do a post on Yom Kippur saying something like "It is one of the great ironies that the holiest day in the official religious calendar of the State of Israel is devoted to self-reflection and taking responsibility for one's own part in the wrongs of the world..." but this year I'm done.
I don't want to hear any more about "Jews," "Judaism," "Jewish safety" or "Jewish identity" until the Holocaust against Palestinians is ended. To my fellow human beings who happen to be Jewish and feel triggered by pro-Palestine solidarity I say: get over yourselves.
I don’t care whether or not Israel represents all Jews or whether it embodies or betrays “Jewish values.” As long as you are not being deprived of your rights, thrown off your land, kidnapped and held indefinitely without charge or trial, trapped, starved or shot like fish in a barrel, I don't want to hear it. If you can't stand with your oppressed brothers and sisters no matter who they are, don't cry when no one stands with you. Instead of being Ed Sheeran, crying that you've been "thrown under the bus” rather than for the suffering children of Gaza: be Macklemore, who actually gets thrown off the bus yet says "I am not the victim here."
Jewish people today have a choice to make: either become forever associated with the horrors that Israel has committed and is commiting or stand together with its victims. To those who refuse the latter I have nothing more to say: History will have the last word. To those multi-year are conflicted and uncomfortable, still in a long process of transformation like the one I experienced more than a decade ago: you’re out of time. Israel’s murderous rampage has gone on too long and come too far and people are dying everyday as you gradually evolve. And to those who have already chosen Humanity, welcome!
Whatever particular identities we may have, they are all ultimately expressions of our shared Humanity. And if being Jewish or anything else doesn't mean being human and caring for all of our fellow human beings, it means nothing. We either all come together as one or die alone. More than 900 wheelchairs donated by Australian charities for children who lost limbs in Israel's genocide have been stuck in a Jordan warehouse for up to 18 months, blocked by Israel, which reportedly classified them as "dual-use" military items.
UNICEF says over 11,000 children in Gaza have life-changing injuries needing rehabilitation. The wheelchairs were built specifically for them. They cannot enter.
The same Israel that created Gaza's 6,000 amputees, 1 in 4 of them children, bars the wheelchairs meant to help them move. It also bars toilet seats, tent poles, sleeping bags, fuel, and hospital generator parts.

Attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch confirmed that her client, Wilbur, has been moved out of the hospital and remains in custody at an undisclosed location after being shot by ICE agents.
