I'm not entirely sure how your values work, bud, but this is not a complicated issue to understand. No matter what side of the political spectrum people are on, they are generally not in favor of predatory practices by litigious corporations. When a company worth billions leaves a nearly 20-year-old game with dead online servers and refuses to re-release it properly, community rollback tools stop looking like pure piracy and start looking like a response to neglect, especially when players say they’d buy an official version if it existed. Many of those excited to play Tekken 6 did buy a copy, but have no way to play the game now. From the Western side, it’s absurd to watch Japanese players defend the corporation’s right to keep the game unplayable after we’ve already paid for it or wanna pay for it. And that's not where the differences between Japan and the West stop. Western players will also openly call out bad mechanics and idiotic design choices in fighting games, while Japanese players more often just adapt and go along with whatever the developer ships. And let's be real, Japanese companies can be extremely shady (and I'm being nice), like Sony removing purchased content from people's accounts, Nintendo suing fans for fan-made games, and Capcom doing "on-disc DLC," just to cite a few examples. Are you ok with that as well? We can have a conversation, but first, you have to ask yourself why you're defending a company that is worth billions and is widely known for its predatory (or even evil) actions, 'cause we know why we're not for it.
