One of the saddest consequences of America's cost-of-living crisis is how quietly people are withdrawing from everyday life.
They stop going to restaurants.
They skip concerts.
They turn down invitations because they can't afford another expensive evening.
Eventually, friends stop inviting them because they always say no.
And before long, staying home becomes the default.
We talk constantly about inflation, wages, and household budgets.
But there's a human cost to making ordinary social activities increasingly unaffordable.
People are losing experiences, friendships, and memories they won't get back.

My sister's local family-owned daycare center got acquired by a private equity group six months ago.
Same building. Same teachers. Same 7 AM opening time. Zero upgrades to the playground or facilities.
This morning, they sent out their new tuition schedule for the upcoming quarter.
Monthly cost per child jumped from $1,250 to $2,400.
When parents asked the new management why prices nearly doubled overnight, the director gave a polished corporate response about "market-rate alignment."
Wall Street figured out a cheat code.
They are quietly gobbling up non-discretionary life infrastructure, daycares, veterinary clinics, emergency medicine, and senior care….. because they know you can't just "cut back" on your kids or elderly parents.
Young families aren't being priced out by inflation. They are being squeezed by leveraged buyouts on basic human survival.

Fire stations are paying more and waiting longer for new trucks.
Why? A few big corporations bought up the fire truck industry and jacked up costs.
That's not right. Corporate greed can't come before public safety.

Everyone is worrying about Flock cameras (rightly so) but by next year most new cars will have a Flock camera built in watching you while you drive.
How are we going to cut those down?

Buried in Trump's bill: a NINE YEAR ban on improving the programs that help seniors afford Medicare premiums.
CBO scored it as $66 billion in "savings."
That's not savings. That's $66 billion taken from seniors who can't afford their pills.

Republican Speaker Mike Johnson says they have a "plan" for Social Security.
After they made the biggest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in history, Americans have every reason to worry.
You earned your benefits with every paycheck. I won’t let Republicans take them away.

After Trump and Musk fired 8,000 Social Security workers, Republican Senators are now calling the entire program a “scam“ and trying to dismantle it.
Millions of seniors depend on Social Security to stay alive. We will not allow them to destroy this vitally important program.

To all the Supermarkets and big commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'....... You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my trolly, emptied my trolly and scanned the items, refilled my trolly and so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.
Signed ......All of us
People we need to share this statement its basically about PROFIT to the stores AND putting People out of a JOB....!!!

He now wants the historic Cherry Trees that were gifted from Japan in 1910 REMOVED, along with the bike path so he can build a golf course.
Guy's! HE'S PLANNING ON CUTTING DOWN THE CHERRY TREES. THE FUCKING CHERRY TREES OF DC.
This better not happen.

GOP Rep. Troy Nehls, when asked about 60% of Americans struggling with affordability: "Affordability? What are you talking about?... I'm gonna get me a couple of big lobster tails. I'm gonna get me some nice rib eyes... Maybe the 60% of Americans don't work as hard as I do."

THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN!
Trump wants to cut down Washington DC's oldest grove of cherry trees along and eliminate the public biking path and picnic areas so he can build a golf course on public land, using public dollars, and taking spaces away from the public.
Imagine being forced to give someone 6.2% of your paycheck, every single check, every month, for 30 to 50 years of your life.
And that person said, "Don't worry, I'm holding this for you and will pay it back to you on a monthly basis, when you retire at 65."
And then they said, "Nah, just kidding. I meant when you retire at 67. And at that time, I'll only give you 70% of what you paid me."
And then they said, "Oops, I spent all your money. You're out of luck."
That's the U.S. government.

Beware: the @united app now has a sneaky online request for you to change your flight to one that’s less booked, and makes it look like a regular check in when it’s a total flight change. I accidentally hit “confirmed” and was placed on two later flights and then spent an hour having to reschedule to my original flights.

Your daily reminder that Medicare for All would save $650 billion and 68,000 lives each and every year, per CBO and the Yale School of Public Health.
We are no longer consumers, we are victims.
Preyed on, scammed, overcharged for everything. Companies and corporations are not eager to earn your loyalty, only to run the con on you and squeeze you for as much as possible. They are not part of society, or greater good.

We took Erin Brockovich's map of every data center in America. Then we laid the nation's aquifers on top of it.
We noticed they're not building data centers where the land is cheap. They're building them where the water is.
Farmers near these facilities say their livestock have stopped falling pregnant. Residents say the humming never stops.
And the projects arrive under NDAs, so most towns don't know until the ground is already broken.
The question isn’t where they’re building anymore. It’s why they’re building where they’re building. Tonight, we think we can answer that question.
We’ve been covering the data center issue in great detail on this broadcast, and for good reason. It’s a serious problem in America and worldwide, and it’s one that is uniting people from all sides of the political aisle because, guess what, whether you are a conservative or a liberal, you have human rights that enable you to have access to basic survival needs like water, which was given to us by God, not by the state or Big Tech, by the way.
Erin Brockovich joined the data center fight recently. She launched a site including a map that shows data centers either completed, under construction, planned, or community reported, likely due to all those pesky NDAs in place stopping us from knowing they’re coming to our area. But the public isn’t stupid.
So Maria thought she’d do something a little bit different. She created a series of maps using Erin Brockovich’s data center data, then superimposed aquifer maps onto those maps, then superimposed smart city locations onto those maps. What Maria found was pretty mind-blowing and, she says, lends credence to her theory that those in charge are purposely making rural areas unlivable for the purpose of pushing people into smart cities, where they will be under constant surveillance and on a short leash.
