Wow, today I’m officially a published picture book author. 🌟 HOW TO BE A ROCK STAR from me and @DanielDuncan is available now! bit.ly/3ONBa3v
I am filled with gratitude, so forgive a little 🧵
What a joy to speak to @AffinitoLit about CAN YOU IMAGINE? THE ART AND LIFE OF YOKO ONO.
Why did I focus on butts? (That’s a question for myself.) #yokoono #picturebooks

🎙️ Had a fantastic conversation with @TCBRbookreview about CAN YOU IMAGINE? THE ART AND LIFE OF YOKO ONO by me and @yasimamura.
The conversation took some fascinating turns and I hope you'll give it a listen! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Ono, now 93, told Tolin she wants to be remembered as “Yoko Ono, the wife, mother, and artist [...]I think most women are wearing many hats, we take all sorts of roles, and that’s how it goes.”

Every book ban is outrageous. When you go after the guy whose beloved, childlike art was inspired by Nazi censorship, something is deeply wrong.
Lisa Tolin on the banning of Eric Carle’s Draw Me A Star: “What those who redact Carle’s childlike art probably don’t realize is that it was inspired by his own response to censorship growing up in Nazi Germany.”

If you have a precocious or creative child in your life, check out @lisatolin's latest book, an illustrated biography of Yoko Ono, reviewed here by @natashagural (link follows):
In a new PEN Ten, our editorial director @lisatolin & illustrator Yas Imamura talk with @jonfreadom about their new picture book Can You Imagine? The Art and Life of Yoko Ono (@simonschuster, 2025), which explores the fascinating life of the famous artist: pen.org/lisa-tolin-yas-imamu…
It's a book birthday! I hope you'll read and share "Can You Imagine? The Art and Life of Yoko Ono" by me and @yasimamura. open.substack.com/pub/lisato…
They keep updating stories I wrote years ago, which is fine, but to be clear, this headline is not mine. Do not gift a 4-year-old. 💀

Amazing to see HOW TO BE A ROCK STAR hanging out with this crew! Thank you @lostitbad and @SylviaiChen for sharing — and I spy @llavoieauthor x2!
This reading wall is *AMAZING*, love seeing TRICKY CHOPSTICKS (illus. @wenfancyart @SimonKIDS) in such awesome company!!! Thank you @lostitbad!
So many to possibly tag, but quick-tagging @lisatolin @KaileiPew @KWindness @TeresaRobeson from what I spotted right away!
Rock stars always hydrate. 🤘🏼🥤
“Mom! Wait! You have to hydrate before reading!”- my intense 4-year-old. 🥤
Books we were reading (again):
🚫The Book With No Pictures by @bjnovak
🔎Find Fergus by @MikeBoldt
🎸How to be a Rockstar by @lisatolin and @DanielDuncan
#picturebooks #hydrate #read

ALT Covers of The Book With No Pictures (just the title on white background) Find Fergus (a brown bear wearing glasses hiding behind the title words)and How to be a Rockstar (a kid with long black hair shredding on a broom “guitar”) on bedcovers with the orange water bottle my toddler brought me. Cute little hand in upper right corner.
I asked the brilliant @Gabi_A_Snyder to share the picture books inspiring her now (including picks from @jyotigopal and Svabu Kohli, @WriterRebeccaGL and Mariona Cabassa, and @annsukwang and @hannayoonicha) open.substack.com/pub/lisato…
Wow, now we’re worried about tree gender.

Like so many other authors, I was recently disinvited from a school. They cited “recent events” and “the content of my book”—which is the Kindertransport and WWII spies. This is what I think is really going on here: jewishbookcouncil.org/pb-dai…
