The UK government has launched a major public engagement initiative to help shape the NHS 10 year plan. We want to ensure children are at the centre of this plan, and encourage RCPCH members to get involved.

ALT The Prime Minister noted the most damning finding of the Darzi Review is the declining physical and mental health of our children. The launch of this national conversation is now an opportunity to engage on much-need solutions. It is vital that children’s physical and mental health is a parity of focus alongside adult care. 🎉 Today is historic! The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is now part of Scots law, making children's rights legally enforceable in 🏴. Let’s celebrate this huge milestone & thank all the children & young people who campaigned to make this possible. ❤️🛡️👏🏾

"Mattering" is the belief that we’re significant to the world around us. When people feel they matter, they feel seen, important & needed through how others treat them. Scholars have deemed mattering to be a core instinct that drives all human behaviour. That’s why, when someone doesn’t believe they matter at work they:
- won’t share their voice if they don’t believe their voice is significant
- won’t use their strengths if they don’t believe they have strengths
- won’t contribute if they don’t believe they have something to contribute
- won’t care as much as if they feel cared for
Actions that leaders/ teams can take: see some excellent articles by @ZachMercurio - "How to Create Mattering at Work": zachmercurio.medium.com/how-… and "The Cost of Not Mattering at Work": zachmercurio.medium.com/the-….
