Hi Kirstie. These figures are from the @TheRAC_UK. The only region where a majority of people don’t have access to off-street parking is London, which has an excellent Underground electric vehicle network.

So that people can easy (automatically) find you on Mastodon, can I recommend you put your mastodon address in your Twitter BIO? This can be used by automatic tools like debirdify.pruvisto.org (which I recommend using) to copy all of your Twitter follows on to Mastodon?

... you don't actually have to change your Twitter Name to your mastodon name too, but that signals that mastodon is your preferred or only platform.
45% levy on electricity generators?? Compared to 35% for O&G? What investment allowances are there? What will this mean for the £175bn investment we need in clean generation to the end of the decade?

@betateach @g__j A friend is having a bit of a Kafkaesque experience getting @OctopusEnergy to install a heat pump. Their gas boiler's broken, so now's the time. The house is a good fit for a heat pump with a good amount of insulation and some under floor heating, great! Well…🧵

4/5 …Why? Sales bloke says it's because the job is too "complex", they might be able to do something in future but "this seems unlikely". The surveyor previously said that everything should be quite straightforward as long as they can get the underfloor heating spec straight…

5/5 …The house is a bog-standard 1930s semi-D. He'd been given a quote to sign, but now that's been withdrawn. The weird catch-22 thing with the underfloor heating sounds like entirely an Octopus internal problem. Surely there must be a way? @g__j @OctopusEnergy can you help?

(1/2) While emergency legislation is required to enable support with bills this winter, we and a number of energy CEOs have written to the Secretary of State to express our concern about the inclusion of other more contentious proposals in the Bill: bit.ly/3TlydJL

In 2007, when Gordon Brown replaced Tony Blair, the Conservatives called for a snap general election. Boris Johnson wrote a piece in the Telegraph describing the change as a "palace coup" and a "North Korean" move that "trampled on the democratic will of the British people."

Why is it totally unacceptable for some people to pay rewards for demand response but perfectly okay to pay generators vast sums of money to meet peak loads?
