Well friends, that's the end. Billionaire speech is all that matters here. If I'm still following you at this late hour, you were amazing. Thanks for everything. I'd be delighted to find you on Mastodon or on open web. Contact details in my bio. youtube.com/watch?v=ojydNb3L…

Peace out y'all. I'm not going to participate on the same timeline as T***p in this universe or any other. You can look in my bio to see where to follow me elsewhere. I'll be deleting this account some time in the next few weeks. Sure sorry it's come to this. I really am.

i’m in a code review with elon musk. ive got the CSS for neopets.com on 3 monitors. my browser’s in dark mode so it looks cool. “this part?” he asks, pointing to code for the Giant Omelette. “caches tweets in the mainframe cyberhex,” i say. he nods. “as i suspected”

I'm not leaving Twitter. I'm just not sure Twitter isn't leaving me.

In a recent conversation with someone I respect, they said something that unexpectedly infuriated and then energized me for the rest of the day. They said, “Would you be open to some advice?” A thread 🧵

Twitter does some things so darn well, like how their embeds work, the web app, the related tweets, how the app works when you don't have a good connection... if you're an engineer that worked on that stuff and want to do it again, HMU

There are currently more human being moderating the Something Awful forums than there are all of Twitter
NEW: A wide swath of Twitter's trust & safety team had access to content moderation/enforcement tools frozen last week. Usually, hundreds of people on the team could remove posts w/misinfo, hate speech etc. It's now down to 15 people. Scoop w/@KurtWagner8 @daveyalba @EdLudlow

I would have real concerns reading a resume that listed employment at Twitter beyond 2022.

Do you have ideas on how to improve #WordPress in higher education? Or ideas for how to support those who use WordPress in #HigherEd? Or ideas for how to enrich the WPCampus community? Then WPCampus needs you and your leadership.

I'm just saying if I led my company into a 13% layoff, I'd offer the board my resignation.

If you're hesitant about trying out Mastodon, there's a handy app called debirdify that will help you find the Mastodon accounts of those you follow on Twitter. It lowers the effort of getting started and populating your feed. The app is pretty smooth. pruvisto.org/debirdify/

And, for the any employees still at Twitter, don’t underestimate the power of a pocket veto. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, or you have to escalate and risk it back firing, but a good pocket veto is a tool to learn to wield well.

No. This is false. I helped to create two different billion-user projects at Apple: WebKit and iPhone. I was on these teams from the earliest stages and I never once came close to sleeping at the office. It’s not an essential part of doing great work.
This is how great new things are built, more often than anyone has been willing to say during the last decade's cultural revolution in Silicon Valley.
