Bob Huggins’ Family Shares Health Update October 21, 2026 | WVU Basketball The family of Hall of Fame coach Bob Huggins, 73, has announced that he is living with a progressive cognitive condition affecting his memory and daily life. The family had kept the condition private for several months but chose to share the news ahead of his induction into the University of Cincinnati Athletics Hall of Fame this Friday. A specific diagnosis has not been disclosed, and the family has respectfully requested privacy. Huggins is expected to attend the ceremony but will not participate in media interviews. During his 16 seasons at West Virginia University, Huggins helped build a lasting basketball legacy, highlighted by the Mountaineers’ memorable 2010 Final Four appearance. His impact extends far beyond basketball, through the players he mentored, the relationships he built, and the lives he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with Coach Huggins and his family. Once a Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer. #BobHuggins #WVU #MountaineerNation
