My sense that moving to Europe only makes sense if you have American wealth. The European expat dream is to be ‘post economic’. The floor for that is a lot lower there than in America. Moving there from America to still work a white collar job? You’re probably going to get hosed

As you can see from the issues with Starlink and Patriot missiles, the idea that Europe was supporting Ukraine on its own without the US was pure fantasy. It was a bad idea for many of Ukraine’s supporters to meme themselves into believing it

I'm very grateful to live in the United States, where the people are friendly, the food is good, and working hard isn't considered a character flaw.

If you work in US politics, you need to read this story. If you work in Democratic politics and think Europe is better in every way (economically, culturally, politically) than our country, stop what you’re doing and read this now.
Oh this story is delicious. Some choice parts for you:

Government spending in France is a greater percentage of GDP than it was in the Soviet Union. There is no neoliberalism in France. There is no austerity. If that’s your explanation of the riots then you know nothing, understand nothing.
Reactionaries more concerned with old buildings on fire than the disintegration of the social order under their beloved neoliberalism.

“France’s per capita GDP is $49,000, below our poorest state, Mississippi, which is at $55,877.” Insane stuff, post has lots of quick facts that illustrate the author’s point well.
By an ex-Goldman Sachs MD with a complicated story: Bring in a ton of poor young people. Rub luxury in their faces. Show them no economic opportunity. And let the old folks drink wine while Paris burns. norebates.substack.com/p/mis…

Palmer Luckey warns Europe will have a much tougher time adapting to the AI and automation revolution: “I think the European Union is going to have a really tough time.” 🇺🇸🇪🇺 “I think the European Union is going to have a really tough time. It’s hard to imagine an economy so dominated by international politics and labor politics allowing automation to transform its manufacturing economy. The United States is one of the few countries with the talent, the people, the political will, and the acceptance at a societal level that something like this is good. There are a lot of people in America who like Star Trek. A lot of people buy into the idea of technology and abundance. The same cannot be said of any European nation.” On the current trajectory, the European Union is in for an abrupt awakening. The recent pivot to increasing labor participation via immigration, instead of deregulation and technological innovation in order to push output and productivity higher is directly against something like automation. It’s this false prophecy of economic growth, that importing masses to participate in a slowing economy does not equate to producing meaningful output. They’re in desperate need of a directional pivot towards productivity and technological gains.

You’re 25x more likely to be a millionaire than be homeless in the US
Replying to @hasanthehun
everyone thinks for some reason that they are closer to becoming a millionaire than becoming homeless.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Recent polling shows a majority of US voters believe they are more likely to become homeless than a millionaire. US data show roughly 23.6 million millionaires versus ~746,000 experiencing homelessness on a given night. dataforprogress.org/blog/2026/8/13… investopedia.com/new-report-rev… hud.gov/news/hud-no-26…
