So many teachers are afraid to “get into trouble” with their boss. The only time we should “get in trouble” is if we do something wrong — not for knowing our worth and communicating it, not for sticking up for ourselves, and not for demanding we be treated with respect.

Moving forward. Can’t change what happened in the past. Our students deserve educators who are focusing on the future and better days not stuck in the past making everyone else’s lives miserable. Onward and upward! 👊🏻

Maintaining a positive attitude at work does not mean you’re in denial about how bleak the reality of the situation may be. It means you’re choosing to focus on your potential for making a difference, rather than dwelling on the circumstances that you can’t control.

Reading is reading! Read the back of the cereal box. Read the phone book. Don’t shame a kid for the material they choose to read! Graphic novels are not the enemy. Reading is reading!

Lots of people upset over what other people read or don't read. As a parent and a librarian, I just want kids to read. Read the classics, the new releases, the graphic novels, the banned books, the picture books, and even the back of the shampoo bottle. Just read.

Teachers want to work in a school where... ✔️They are supported when dealing with students and parents. ✔️ Their professional judgment is respected. ✔️ They have a voice in school wide decisions. ✔️ They feel like their work is noticed and appreciated.
