We still do not know a lot about Marineland. If any Marineland workers or Animal Welfare Services inspectors see this and want to tell the public what’s going on, please DM me. Confidentiality guaranteed.
Another beluga has died at Marineland. Ontario’s chief animal welfare inspector says Marineland’s water is now considered acceptable after an upgrade to the treatment technology. 5 belugas have died there in the last year, 17 since 2019. toronto.ctvnews.ca/another-b…

Ever wonder what life is like in a First Nation with a boil-water advisory? ⁦@ChrisYphoto⁩ and I visited Neskantaga First Nation, which has the country’s longest such advisory at a staggering 29 years and counting. Here’s what we found: thecanadianpressnews.ca/heal…

So sorry to hear about the death of Peter Rosenthal, a fierce defender of social justice who was vocal about abuses of power. He spoke to me, and the Star, countless times, but this @liamdevlincasey profile might be my favourite. RIP. thestar.com/news/crime/peter…

We are sad to share that our friend Réal Leclair, affectionately known as #HomelessJoe, has died from a heart attack while gathering water from a river near his shack in South Etobicoke (Toronto). Réal's body was found by a mountain biker. 22 Division Toronto Police led by Officer Rich Nimmo and team, as well as Coroner Dr Gupta have gone above and beyond to determine what happened and honour Réal. We all thank them. Street Nurse Anne Marie Batten and Retired Toronto Police Constable Scott Mills are in touch with Réal's family in Quebec who will be coming to Toronto to bring Réal's remains home for cremation & burial in their family cemetery. Anne Marie and Ret. Cst Mills started a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs. Réal's family did all they could to help him, as did many people. "Mental illness is a bitch". Any excess funds will be donated to agencies chosen by the family who help homeless people with mental illness. Learn more and/or donate: gofund.me/1d6f9314 RIP Homeless Joe 💔 – at Toronto, Ontario
