When I moved out at 19, my dad told me I owed him rent.
One dollar a month.
For my old bedroom.
“Standard rate,” he said.
I laughed.
He didn’t.
So on the 1st of every month, I sent him $1 on Venmo.
Memo: “rent.”
He always replied with a thumbs up.
Never a word.
I paid it through college.
Through two terrible apartments.
Through the winter I ate rice for dinner and had $6 in my account.
I still sent it.
My friends thought it was the strangest thing they’d ever heard.
I told them he was just weird about money.
That was 11 years ago.
Last spring, I found a small house I loved.
Two bedrooms.
A crooked porch.
A lemon tree in the yard.
I was $18,000 short on the down payment.
I mentioned it at Sunday dinner, trying to sound casual.
“It’s fine. I’ll find another one.”
He didn’t say anything.
He just kept eating.
Then he said, “Pass the salt.”
I thought I’d disappointed him….

🚨 Jürgen Klopp on Jamie Carragher’s criticism of Florian Wirtz:
🎙️ “Jamie did the same thing with Mo Salah years ago. Every week, another criticism, another reason why Salah wasn’t doing enough. Then Salah answered on the pitch. Now I see the same movie with Florian.”
“Maybe some people forget that football is not played for television clips. I watch Wirtz differently. I see his movement, his work, the spaces he creates. If you only look for goals and assists, you will miss half of what the player gives you.”
“Now I’m his Germany coach, so Jamie can keep talking and I’ll keep coaching. If Florian comes here and plays the football I know he can play, then maybe the experts will suddenly discover that the boy was never the problem”
🚨 Roy Keane on Gakpo not being awarded a penalty against Ipswich:
🗣️ Keane: “I must’ve missed something during the week because I was told last weekend that this was a penalty.
When Alisson made contact with Williams after he’d already taken his shot, I said it wasn’t a penalty. The argument afterwards was, ‘It doesn’t matter that the ball is gone. There’s still contact.’
Fine. I disagreed with it, but at least that’s the explanation.
Now look at Gakpo. He releases the pass, though it gets intercepted, but the defender comes across and takes him out. The attacking move is already gone. Then there’s contact.
So where’s the penalty?
Whether Gakpo’s pass was intercepted doesn’t matter. Williams had already wasted his chance last week as well. If contact after the attacking action was enough to punish Alisson, why isn’t it enough here?
That’s what drives players and managers mad. I don’t even need them to agree with me anymore. Just agree with themselves.
Last week I said Williams had already completed what he wanted to do and people told me I was wrong.
Okay. Then give Liverpool the penalty today.
You can’t have both.”
🚨 Roy Keane on Nottingham Forest’s penalty against Liverpool:
🗣️ Keane: “That’s never a penalty for me. The first thing I’m looking at is when the contact actually happens. Williams has already taken the shot. The ball is gone. Then there’s slight contact with Alisson afterwards.
So what exactly has Alisson stopped him from doing? He’s already done what he wanted to do. He got his shot away.
If Alisson takes him out before he can shoot, completely different conversation. But you can’t have a player complete the chance, miss it, then give him another chance from the penalty spot because there’s a bit of contact afterwards.
And it’s not some reckless challenge where Alisson has gone through him either. We’re talking about slight contact after the ball has already left his foot.
I actually think Iraola’s answer afterwards tells you something. He says, ‘I’ll leave it to you to decide if it was a penalty or not.’ Of course he will. His team got the penalty.
Forest will take it, absolutely. But for me Liverpool have every right to be furious. Williams had his chance. You don’t give him another one because of what happened after the shot.”
Can I have x2 of the new small badge when available Wayne please.

Is there anyone out there who genuinely thinks that all this team needs is some signings and a pre season to turn this around. We are so far behind the level required to challenge it's actually upsetting.
We have some leaders leaving in the summer, we've some players who are regressing, at a serious rate. Arne Slot has not put the fire in the belly of this side in a long time. There's no spark and no belief.
