One of the most shocking parts to me abt any death penalty discussion online *and* offline is the obvious bloodlust seemingly regular ppl carry within them. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen folks on here celebrate torture or claim a botched execution is deserved.

The thing I don't understand about death penalty supporters is like.. this isn't justice. This doesn't make things right for her victim or undo the damage she caused. You can't do that. It's just killing someone else, decades after the crime

Her name is Christa Gail Pike. She is 50. She is the only woman on Tennessee’s death row.
The state set her execution for Wednesday, Sept. 30. Method: lethal injection at Riverbend prison in Nashville.
Gov. Bill Lee said he will not stop it. Her lawyers asked the U.S. Supreme Court for a stay.
In 1995 she was 18. She and her boyfriend were convicted of torturing and killing Colleen Slemmer, 19. They were classmates at Knoxville Job Corps.
Pike got the death sentence in 1996. She has not denied the killing.
If Tennessee carries this out, she will be the first woman the state has executed since about 1820.

The conversation around Wirtz is fascinating & tbh with Iraola’s style this was always going to happen. Conversation about the price tag and what he offers are valid. But, the main thing to remember is that some players are extremely dependent on team dynamics to bring their best game forwards.
Only some players can boast about being less reliant on team-dynamics. Wirtz is not one of them (should be for 115m, yes). What is clear though is that he thrives in the combination game but specifically in dangerous areas (half-spaces, zone 14).
He obviously has value to provide elsewhere but it’s capped due to his tendencies (feathery, coy, sly. Not direct, confrontational, etc). This season will be a test of his mental capacity because his confidence will be shot by all this media noise.
