There’s something sinister about watching a team caught cheating play week in, week out in a competition where they’ve been found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges. It makes a mockery of the competition and, frankly, makes the whole thing look like a joke.

Nothing will keep this story and the pressure for sanctions stronger than Man City continually winning and being dominant. It’s going to be the season-long drumbeat. Even more so if they did know in summer about this and went even harder in transfer market as a result.

It all doesn’t mean F Wirtz is a bad player (far from it) He has had plenty time to adjust.
Maybe the Prem is far to fast for him. Playing no10 these days from the Zola Cantana Bergkamp days. You have to win duels/counter press/be strong/ etc I’m not sure he is going to get it.

- is a tax exile (left long before this govt)
- hates his own country while complaining he doesn’t get big enough subsidies from it
- laments the hit to manufacturing driven by a Brexit he supported
