Nobody is upset. You never had to do that. Men have been putting up with women's bullshit for ages and we're on the verge of getting robots to replace you.
'Horizontal Progression' is just a weird way to say balance, making all specs viable, introducing new ways to play the same characters.
You can't 'progress' 'horizontally'
If new content comes out, and there is no gear to chase, people will run it a couple of times and never again.
The drops from any new raid or dungeon need to be something people want, and people want their character to get stronger.
This either adds power to your character, or allows you to play your character in a new way.
You cannot stop people from min-maxing, finding meta builds and specs, and determining what the Most Optimal way to play is. No point in fighting it.
Instead, give people many options for what is considered 'viable', and make sure 'The Best' way to play is not The Best by a huge margin.
WoW endgame is boring after you BiS. Unless you want to play a new class.
PVP is a huge amount of additional hours to the game for free. Regardless of balance. But it needs rating. People like getting points, no need to fight this.
People will Always complain about balance, in PVE and PVP. It doesn't have to be perfect.
What people actually want is more ways to play.
If there are 10 ways to play, and 3 are clearly better than the others, it's boring and people will scream for balance.
If there are 50 ways to play and 10 are clearly better than the others less people will complain.
You can focus on Absolute Balance, but giving people more options is also a solution.
Also, I've seen some speculation that maybe new raids will require certain 'resist' gear, or things like that. That is OK, kinda, but nobody ever likes to get weaker. If I have to drop my BiS piece of gear, to wear gear with resist, just to survive damage in a raid, to get gear with another resist, to do another dungeon, that is a boring gameplay loop.
Instead, maybe new raids can drop items, or enchants, or things that add to your character, or the gear you want to wear, instead of making you take off pieces of gear that you worked hard to get.
The world can be the main character, but making your character stronger Is the loop. Vertical progression is unavoidable, people should not be upset when WoW Forever inevitably has vertical progression.

Lotta girls still getting bent out of shape over something a fat ugly comedian said. Not sure I would categorize that as 'mature'.

If everyone is a rapist, no one is a rapist.
It is one of the solutions of all time.

Sure.
Now go on SNL and make a joke about it and watch how nobody gets upset. Because it doesn't matter and no one should care.

"Women don't care"
strange thing to say when it's basically national news and trending.
Tell me, what color would you say the sky was, if you had to guess?

'women have spent generations..'
holy shit get a life, acquire some agency, take some mushrooms, get the fuck over yourselves
The reason women are mad at Shane Gillis is not because we can’t take a joke.
It’s because women have spent generations being conditioned to laugh along when men make us uncomfortable, lest we be accused of being uptight, hysterical cunts with no sense of humor.
And considering that particular arrangement helped produce the Cornell 7, perhaps men could shut the fuck up about our inability to take a joke and examine their own spectacular inability to take accountability.

The only thing Shane Gillis can do now to salvage his reputation with these people is murder his own kids.
