Before building upon the work we've started, we have to make sure our foundation is solid. Establishing meaningful relationships, fostering a positive & productive work environment, & being purposeful in understanding & managing emotions are key to increasing team performance.
Vanguards spent time this afternoon assessing their emotional intelligence & the EI of their teams. Mrs. Jackson led the discussion around the power of human connection & followed with an exercise where staff discovered their Business Chemistry. #TeamChemistry

We are so proud of our March Students of the Month: Arianna Salinas, Madelyne Rodriguez, Marquette Johnson, Esmeralda Tome, Mikayla Ruff, Crystal Olvera, & Patrick Gillego They were recognized for exemplifying Role, Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships on Campus.
Listening to our students explain The Mesquite Promise #MadetoExcel #Differencemaker
Our student leaders talked about the word, “Favorites.” It is normalized. Students determined that we have to stop doing this at every level. Everyone has to be held accountable regardless of being someone’s ‘favorite.’ We have to honor dignity. #MadeToExcel #youbelonghere
Our students light up when talking about what they need from the adults in their school around our district. Thank you Rugel Elementary, Gray Elementary, and Woolley Middle School.

This is another story I shot, edited, wrote, and reported today for @CBSNewsTexas. It's a #BlackHistoryMonth story on the @mesquiteisdtx getting a new steel drum band elective and the instrument's connection to Trinidad and Tobago & resistance to slavery.
