Teachers need to stop doing this. I was a PERFECT student. Straight As. Never in trouble. I remember in 3rd grade the teacher sent a note home to EVERYBODY parents cause like 5 kids were misbehaving. My mom beat me mercilessly for a week. You dont know these kids’ home lives.
As the "good kid" back in school, I hated it when teachers would punish the entire class for the actions of one or two students. It doesn't encourage other students to behave, it makes other students wonder what's the point in following the rules if they'll get punished anyway

I’m sorry, but hackers remotely turning off refrigeration systems at hundreds of supermarkets and destroying all their fresh and frozen food is INSANE. We’ve connected so much of our physical world to the internet that apparently even keeping milk cold is now a cybersecurity problem. What the actual hell.
BREAKING: Hackers remotely defrost refrigerators at hundreds of French supermarkets, causing massive food spoilage.

This is insane. Private equity owning municipal utilities? How in the world?
My uncle noticed his monthly water and sewage bill jumped from $85 to $290 over the last six months, even though his family didn't fill a single pool or leak a gallon. He called the municipal water board to report what he assumed was a meter error. The clerk explained that the city sold the local water treatment facility and underground main grid to an infrastructure equity fund last year to cover municipal budget deficits. When my uncle asked why that tripled his rate, she told him: "The private operator added a quarterly 'grid modernization surcharge' and an 'infrastructure maintenance access fee' to every residential account." Nothing about the pipes, pressure, or water quality improved. Private equity isn't just buying houses and daycares anymore. They are acquiring local utility monopolies so they can bill working families a mandatory tax on drinking water and flushing the toilet.

This is a coup. A coup. Treason.
It’s already started in Sacramento,California a vehicle pulled up next to a mail truck & took trays of mail out of the back of it & put it in their vehicle & drove away & now Sacramento voters are missing their voting ballots. There’s up to a $100,000 dollar reward for them.

3 months ago Zohran announced an NYPD expansion. After pushback from Emerge caucus, which a bunch of DSA chapters and NYC orgs signed onto, he cancelled it. He is responsive to public pressure. You don't have to be so fragile and defensive about him.
The DSA got a once in a lifetime opportunity: an extremely popular, charismatic socialist running New York City. Instead of helping Zohran govern, they're posting ridiculous demands in social media infographics. Who could've seen this coming.

You guys know that the last time the NYPD went on strike, crime went down, right? They ended the strike because crime was dropping too significantly and it was showcasing how unnecessary the massive NYPD budget is.
I hate Tisch with every fiber of my being but there’s rly nothing Zohran can do here. If he fires the cops will soft-strike and then blame him for the ensuing crime wave, and his popularity tanks

This 3.5 yr old tweet has got a new life for some reason I suppose because it is still true or maybe truer than ever
The quicker we forget the pandemic the quicker we forget how easy it was for governments to ban evictions, forbid creditors from chasing debtors, find the homeless homes, provide a universal basic income and more. All the things we are told are impossible

We’ve been talking about this for years. None of these far-right movements are organic.
If confirmed, this is telling: Russian data centres get hit, and online activity around AfD suddenly plummets. 📉 So much talk about German patriotism… then the connection from Russia goes down. 🤔🇷🇺

This miserable bill needs to DIE
Today Senator Blackburn is expected to try ramming KOSA--the Kids Online Safety Act--through the Senate via unanimous consent. KOSA was an Internet censorship bill in its inception, and in 4 years the only thing its authors have done is try to disguise KOSA's nature, not fix it.

Why do we blame one person for systemic harm and wait for one person to fix it? Same cognitive shortcut, opposite direction. I pull from scapegoat theory, compensatory control, collective narcissism, and the superhero formula. psyber.space/episodes/the-on…

No one masks, no one tests, people lie when they're sick and say it's a cold. And then we're supposed to just trust you when you say we shouldn't mask, when we know more than 40% of all Covid infections are asymptomatic. I'm not arguing with people who ignore scientific facts
