From underwater robots to solving one of the biggest bottlenecks in infrastructure: energy.
Grace and Vayu came to SF building underwater robots.
1 week later, they killed the idea.
Then they spoke to hundreds of people in 2.5 weeks and found a much bigger problem: getting enough power, fast enough.
That led to LOIs and a $500K contract.
Last week, they pitched Lattice Energy at Demo Day. Watch their full pitch on the Demo Day portal.

Our alumni @arthurgarzon_ demoed his company Narion during the @join_ef summer batch demo day.
Narion builds aerial droids for jobs too dangerous for people, starting with clearing explosives. Navy, SOCOM, Air Force and Army teams are lining up.
On to glory Arthur!

In this batch of cracked EF founders:
- a world jiu jitsu champion
- two people who went to college before they were fifteen years old (one was ten)
- an eight-time ironman athlete
- a cancer survivor
- an international chess master
- someone who ran a $100m hedge fund from his college dorm
- someone with one billion game downloads in high school
- a team with three valedictorian titles between the two of them (lol)
- many more I'm forgetting

It’s Demo Day.
At 3pm PST in San Francisco, 40+ teams will walk on stage and pitch to investors from across Silicon Valley.
Time to see what they have built.
I’m making a list of the top companies at tomorrow’s @join_ef demo day. Lmk if you’re interested.
I spent the past 3 months at EF finding talent, helping founders, and building cool shit. There are a lot of big things coming out of there to look out for 👀

As a kid, Arthur tried to build Spider-Man web shooters.
He’s been building drones since his teens, worked in defense, demonstrated technology to the Pentagon, and built drone systems to help firefighters map wildfires.
Now he’s building Narion Technologies.
Next week, he’ll be pitching at Demo Day.
Leon's Super-connectors for young unknown builders.
They’re open to cold dms and super helpful if you’re ambitious and don’t know how to break in.

Excited to introduce @Cosign: the curated professional network for the startup community: cosign.co
Our goal is to create the following:
- A comprehensive startup directory of investors, companies, and operators, including what they worked on and who they worked on it with.
- Cosign graph: Who shaped your career? Who were you actually in the trenches with? Who would work with you again? Who thinks you’re someone to watch?
- Durable reputation: Great endorsements happen every day on X and disappear into the feed. Cosign attaches those signals permanently to people and companies.
- Discovery: Who are the best fintech angels? Which AI companies should I watch? Who are the best designers?
- Intent network: Privately signal “I’d invest in them,” “I’d hire them,” “I’d work with them,” or eventually even “I’d acquire this company.” Match people when interest exists on both sides.
Imagine if Wikipedia, LinkedIn, and OG AngelList had a baby. Though Cosign is a community, not a business.
In order to join, you need to be cosigned. Or you can apply directly.
David Booth and I started this idea 7 years ago but didn’t have the firepower to make it work. Now we do.
No one has really touched LinkedIn in 20 years. Excited to take a swing.

When I was 18 I asked @salkhanacademy “do you think education is outdated and if so how would you change it?”
His solution was to shift towards a system with competency decentralization and personalization.
I spent years researching charter schools, programs like @adastra , talking to people and building tons of tools for K-12.
I’ve never been so sure that education is one of the biggest and hardest problems to solve.
Excited to see the future of @theacademysf
Announcing The Horowitz Andreessen Academy.
The internet made it possible to know anything. AI makes it possible to do anything.
The best assignments now are problems so hard they cannot be solved without AI. The Academy courses follow the same logic and will be taught by world-class leaders.
The most talented young people today rarely have their sharpest peers within walking distance. Their network is online. Those networks are real, but they're thin.
The next generation will not be taught the way the last one was. The Academy is built for that world, and it begins in San Francisco.
If you're young, hungry and love building things, apply for the Founding Class Fellowship.
So who's gonna build the judgement layer for talent?

Hyper growth companies operate similar to VCs.
Both have 90% of returns (or output) come from the top 1% of the portfolio (or employees).
Both accept high churn and failure rates (failed employees or failed startups) because a single outlier completely dominates the results.
Both reward outliers disproportionately. VCs give massive fund returns to winning startups, hyper-growth companies give huge equity and fast promotions to top builders.
Both treat operators not as employees following a task, but as independent partners tasked with owning a massive domain and having high leverage.
Im sure it goes deeper, but why don't all companies operate like this...
