It is my great pleasure to announce ggPlantmap (github.com/leonardojo/ggPlan…), an open-source R package to create ggplot maps from plant images. Now, you can create beautiful plant heatmaps to be visualized and modified in a R coding environment.

I'm super excited to join the Plant Stress Resilience group chaired by Rashmi Sasidharan. My research will focus on understanding how the interaction between transcription factors and chromatin states shape plant environmental responses.

Since starting grad school I have dreamed about this moment and I hope to inspire the next generation of plant biologists with the same patience, care and dedication shown to me by the many mentors who guided me throughout my journey.

Important thread on using ANOVA in R!!!
The informal poll results are in, & as I feared, most people are running ANOVAs in #R with functions that can give highly misleading (or flat out wrong) results. Follow along to see why using anova() and aov() is usually inadvisable & why you should be using car::Anova() 🧵

The last chapter of my dissertation is finally out @PNASNews pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pn… Here, we report the first genome-wide binding characterization of WRINKLED1 TF, the central regulator of lipid biosynthesis in seeds. We hope it will be useful for the seed/oil community!
I’m happy to finally submit the final chapter of my PhD dissertation. Here we studied a very known TF in the field of seed lipid content - WRINKLED1. To our surprise, this was the first comprehensive study of genome-wide binding pattern of WRI1. 🧵 #plantbio #seeds #lipids

The Rclub was a really important moment of my PhD at UC Davis. Lead by Julin Maloof and Stacey Harmer, we meet every week and learned R together. It was really fun, the true meaning of community learning! Since then, I've been trying to emulate the Rclub experience wherever I go

Just put together a simple guide on how to vectorize R plots in PowerPoint. Check out my first Medium article 🥳 nalinan.medium.com/how-to-ve…
It took me SEVEN years to figure out that you can save a ggplot as a vectorized .svg file ggsave("file.svg"). The svg file can be opened on powerpoint and it will be completely vectorized, even text are still recognized as text boxes! No more recreating plots on illustrator!!!!!

WOW, it appears that I wasn't the only one who didn't know this. BTW, It can also be used in any vector based image app (Illustrator, Inkspace, etc). Just don't forget to Ungroup your object!
