Tooth decay is the no.1 reason for hospital admissions among young children, and bad diets are fuelling it.
Free School Meals is a simple step that can put prevention to work.
We're proud to be part of the coalition fighting for #FreeSchoolMealsForAll
This news is real progress.
We can help get children into the habit of healthy eating.
There are gains for oral and general health.
It's prevention in action.

5 years on from lockdown and patients unable to access care are:
🏥Piling pressure on other parts of the NHS
✈️Heading abroad for treatment that should be available in their own backyard.
🦷Becoming 'DIY' dentists.
We can't go on this way.

"We take on the challenge from the British Dental Association that there is more to do."
A welcome tone from @wesstreeting.
NHS dentistry has been treated as a Cinderella Service.
That has to end.
We need a fair deal our members and the millions they treat.

Today NHS dentistry takes a small step.
What we urgently need now is a giant leap.
Action proportionate to the scale of the crisis millions still face.

“We’re not going to fix NHS dentistry without fixing the contract,” says @wesstreeting on #bbclaurak
We’ve welcomed the constructive tone from the new Govt.
But if NHS dentistry is going to survive we will need commitment to a timetable for reform👉 bda.org/news-and-opinion/blo…
This is a good start to fixing a broken NHS dental service both in the short and long term -we shouldn’t have to see people taking their own teeth out or travelling miles to get access to an NHS dentist anymore but we need action not just words and promises
Very positive to see @wesstreeting deliver on a meeting with the BDA in his first Monday in office.
Hope the start of productive engagement to tackle a broken NHS dental service.

Congratulations to @wesstreeting and @PreetKGillMP.
Together with @TheBDA @ShawnC_GDPC and colleagues, I look forward to meeting @DHSCgovuk on Monday.
We want to make NHS dentistry fit for the future.
And that will require political will.
Today NHS dentistry turns 76.
Still facing the greatest crisis in its history.
A new government has a responsibility to rescue and reform a service that millions depend on.
This will require urgency and ambition.
We stand ready to start this process next week.

Can’t wait to hear ‘The Angel’ getting belted out in the away end this Sunday. We need everyone on board for this to work. The feel good factor in our fanbase should help excel that. Send and share this song to all your Arsenal mates!

TIME CIRCUITS ON!
Founded in 1948, NHS dentistry transformed the oral health of the nation.
Now Government failure is sending the nation’s oral health back in time.
The PM promised to ‘restore’ this service.
That promise has not been kept.

The BDA has tirelessly raised the issue of this dysfunctional NHS dental contract for a decade and half -this generation of dentist graduating in the last few years have run out of goodwill and are doing their dentistry outside of the NHS now – at East, England
The broken NHS contract is impacting not only all of dental care but now GPs, hospitals and other areas of healthcare... People being admitted for dental issues, resorting to DIY dentistry... It's time for action @TheBDA
I’m @DentalShowcase supporting the campaign to save NHS dentistry.
Oral health inequality is widening.
We need @RishiSunak to keep his promise and restore this service before it’s too late. 38d.gs/SaveNHSDentistry

Seems more than coincidence that misleading statements are issued Next she will be saying there are 2.5 million extra appointments and an investment of £200 million

Thanks to both @EdwardJDavey and @libdemdaisy for taking NHS dentistry seriously.
Big, bold reforms are what our patients desperately need.
.@EdwardJDavey tells @LibDems conference his focus is on ‘transformation’ not ‘tweaks’.
Govt have simply rearranged the deckchairs on NHS dentistry.
Any party serious about power needs to make a decisive break with the broken system fuelling this crisis. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-6…
Time is running out to save NHS dentistry in England -patients resorting to taking out their own teeth is what you might have expected back in Victorian England not the 21st century @TheBDA @GMB @DailyMirror

Yet another form of rationing by Government & @NHSEngland. Increased #NHS copayments will result in fewer people accessing care as some cannot afford the hike. Yet despite record clawback year on year, this is just another form of #taxation!
"We consider that this is proportionate."
So says Minister @AndreaLeadsom
Years of charge hikes mean patients in🏴 will pay £116.10 more for the same treatment than cousins in🏴
Is that proportionate?
NHS dentistry needs fair funding and real reform. 38d.gs/SaveNHSDentistry
Would be good to know exactly what your plans are and set out in your manifesto BEFORE the election @wesstreeting rather than waiting till the Monday after in the event you get in – at East, England
I am not sure where this vast army or hygienists and therapists are coming from to do “the simpler work” in the NHS -if dentists don’t want to work in a broken system it’s not realistic that hygienists and dental therapists would either ? – at East, England
ITV News has spoken to a patient who was in so much pain she pulled out 12 of her own teeth with pliers because she couldn't get an NHS dentist.
'Somebody in that amount of pain must always remember that if they need to they can go to their local A&E,' the health secretary says
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The NHS Accident & Emergency service does not treat dental patients unless there is a severe infection that could be life threatening by affecting breathing, swallowing or speech.
