I’m going to say something that is very hard for many of you to comprehend, let alone accept. Mohammed bin Salman has steered a nation spanning more than 2 million km² through a region in flames, while keeping Saudi Arabia in a considerably stronger position than many of its neighbours. And I would argue that much of this comes down to pure pragmatism. He is not beholden to rigid ideological camps, nor that every disagreement must become a permanent confrontation. He understands that diplomacy and restraint are not weaknesses, and that national interests must take precedence over ideological posturing. Unfortunately, far too many leaders in our neighbourhood have failed miserably to grasp this. We are surrounded by some profoundly reckless and incompetent actors. Some have no reservations about murdering civilians. Some have helped plunge this region into war, only to lecture everyone else about peace and stability. And some fancy themselves exceptional political strategists, when their conduct is nothing more than arrogant, inept, and utterly incompetent. Contrast that with Saudi Arabia. Despite the Houthi terrorist attacks and the extraordinary circumstances surrounding us, Saudi society has not descended into ‘panic’, like many on this app would have you believe. Mohammed bin Salman once said, “A Saudi does not fear.” I can tell you, from my own family, friends, colleagues, and practically everyone I interact with, that this sentiment holds true. We are angry, and we grieve for those we have lost. Yet, we are not paralysed by fear, and we certainly will not allow a terrorist militia to dictate how we live. This leads me to another point: I believe Mohammed bin Salman favours diplomacy. Where diplomacy proves insufficient, there is pressure. And where pressure fails, military force always remains an option. Knowing when to employ each, and to what extent, is what distinguishes statecraft from the recklessness we have witnessed elsewhere in this region. You can criticise, and you can attack, but Saudi foreign policy is not impulsive. All decisions are carefully weighed, with their consequences considered. The Crown Prince knows that in this region, it is exceptionally easy to wage war, but far harder to exercise this degree of restraint. Yet restraint has its limits, and the safety and stability of this nation of nearly 40 million citizens and residents will always take precedence over all else.

Cutting Ukraine off starlink will not bring your prices down. It will only kill more Ukrainian civilians. I hope you will get 15 dollars a gallon, it's exactly what you deserve

🇺🇦 If Starlink disappears, Ukraine will replace it with European satellite internet terminals. OneWeb, Kymeta, and Satcube. Communications will not disappear, but the equipment will change. 1. Replacement for Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines OneWeb terminals (manufactured by Hughes or Intellian) and Kymeta flat-panel antennas. This is also low-Earth-orbit satellite internet. Speeds and signal latency are almost the same as Starlink. The OneWeb network provides full coverage across Ukraine. OneWeb equipment is significantly more expensive ($3,000–$10,000 per terminal), so international partners will cover these costs. For example, the United Kingdom and the EU are already financing such deliveries. 2. Replacement for military headquarters and critical coordination Swedish Satcube terminals and Inmarsat Global Xpress systems. They operate through geostationary satellites. Several hundred such stations have already been supplied to Ukraine by the German government. Their signal transmission is somewhat slower, but they have one enormous advantage: they are extremely difficult for Russian electronic warfare systems to jam. 3. Replacement for civilian resilience centers and critical infrastructure Traditional satellite internet provided by Eutelsat and Datagroup through the KA-SAT satellite. The antennas resemble ordinary satellite TV dishes. They provide basic internet access for calls, messaging applications, and checking the news. Speeds are lower than Starlink, but sufficient for civilian emergency communications away from the front lines. 4. Backup options for the near future Amazon Project Kuiper and Europe's IRIS² satellite network. Amazon is already launching satellites and testing terminals, while Ukraine has reportedly been included among the priority regions for receiving this alternative. And there is something else: Ukraine is developing its own domestic satellite communications solutions. So why the hell should we keep begging those damn, stinking Trumpists? Ukraine will find alternatives. Ukraine will adapt. Ukraine will survive without depending on the whims of Trump and his followers. 🇺🇦

BREAKING | 🇺🇸🇺🇦‼️‼️ Elon Musk has placed responsibility for restrictions on Ukraine’s Starshield satellite communications on the U.S. government, stating that American military leadership and ultimately President Donald Trump control the system’s operational limitations. Musk explained that Starshield is owned and controlled by the U.S. government, which determines restrictions on its speed and use. He distinguished it from Starlink, SpaceX’s commercial satellite service, which he said is limited to civilian and defensive activities and cannot be used for offensive military operations. The clarification follows reports that Starshield internet speeds were restricted in Ukraine, reportedly disrupting long-range strikes against Russian targets and efforts to intercept Russian jet-powered drones. The distinction places responsibility for Starshield’s operational restrictions with Washington rather than SpaceX. If the reported limitations continue, they could significantly affect Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities and drone defenses, raising serious questions about the reliability of American military support at a critical stage of Russia’s war.
