I went to university in 2012 to become a mechanical engineer and have spent over a decade working in the industry. Alongside my career, over the last 9 years I dedicated my spare time to child protection at ECPU, personally leading more than 1,000 stings in both the UK and Poland to catch online predators. Wanting to serve the public even further, I joined HM Coastguard as a rescue officer. For me, duty isn't defined by politics or personal opinions—it is defined entirely by action. When a 999 call came in, I never stopped to ask who needed help. I put my gear on and executed the mission without hesitation. Despite that track record, I was suspended last month. During an online child protection operation involving an illegal immigrant from Gambia, I expressed my personal view regarding illegal immigration from third-world countries and the need to follow British rules. Having submitted my official statement at the station today, I now face being sacked in the coming weeks. People need to know how frontline service personnel in this country are being treated. It is disheartening to see dedicated responders silenced and disciplined over private opinions, even when their commitment to saving lives and keeping the public safe has never wavered
