I don't plan to post here anymore. I'm active on Threads and Instagram: instagram.com/leelefever. Also on Mastodon: sanjuans.life/@lee
I’m curious if this link will work: bsky.app/profile/leelefever.…
It's been fun working on this video, in part, because I'm fascinated with the fediverse and new, less-commercial directions for social media. I've enjoyed using Mastodon and believe it's a healthier approach to connecting online. My account is here: sanjuans.life/@lee
Our new video uses a rich analogy to explain how Mastodon is different from Twitter and why it matters that social media is becoming more people-powered. youtu.be/HfU20EtgpC8 #Mastodon

I feel like we're getting back to our roots in social media. Our first videos care from passion for blogs, wikis, rss, etc. They are about ideas and not companies. Once companies started running the show, it wasn't as exciting anymore. That's why Mastodon is different for me.
Over at @CommonCraft we've been working on a video that explains #Mastodon using a pop culture analogy. The poster image has some clues:

THIS is such a great story!
1) I hate a blank page and love experimenting with creative constraints.
2) These are the little gems that give me hope for the internet.
Thanks @leelefever for sharing this.

I've shared my article "Dear Friend, let's Talk About Mastodon" as an article on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/pulse/dear-frie…
Mastodon has now become my main social media platform.
It's fascinating to see Ev Williams, Biz Stone, Anil Dash, and others using Mastodon like early Twitter. Change is afoot.

I've published a document that's a letter to friends who are #Mastodon curious.
I’ve dedicated the document to the #PublicDomain and shared it as a Google Doc 📄.
Feel free to duplicate the doc, edit and share it, without my permission.

There was a time in 2007 when all I wanted to talk about was social media. We were making @CommonCraft videos and Web 2.0 was the thing.
I haven’t felt that way for a long time. Recently that feeling has returned and driven by decentralization, Mastodon, and the Fediverse.
Right now, I’m bullish on Mastodon and don’t mind evangelizing a bit because it’s defiantly non-commercial. I feel like my promotion is more authentic because I’m not implicitly helping a company’s business model or bottom line. I find that SO refreshing.
Mastodon may not be for everyone and that’s OK. I’m going to keep this Twitter account. But if you’d like to connect on Mastodon, you can find me here: sanjuans.life/@lee
