For the past year I have been working on a new architecture for CheerpJ, @leaningtech's solution to run real-world #Java applications in modern browsers.
The 3.0 version will be fully JIT based. The first real #WebAssembly replacement for the JVM.

The @googlechrome devtools are great, but they are inadequate when working on very large apps, especially when JIT-ting #WebAssembly.
@panicodes has recently joined our team and fully revamped our internal profiling tools. We are releasing them as well!

Today we are releasing Cheerp 3.0, our state-of-the-art C++ to #WebAssembly _and_ #JavaScript compiler. Lots of improvements in performance, output size and interoperability features. But, most importantly, Cheerp is low permissively licensed!

WebVM is trending on @GitHub!
Impressed by the first derivative of this curve.

Very happy to share another very big leap my colleagues have been working on recently: webvm.io/?networking.
Now #WebVM gets [optional] networking capabilities, closing the gap between an emulated terminal inside a browser tab and the real thing.

This piece pulls it all together! Terrific work by @leaningtech folks, and the ubiquity of @Tailscale continues to surprise me.
Added support for TCP and UDP networking has been a highly requested feature by early adopters of #WebVM
We designed it so it can be integrated into our other WebAssembly toolchains, with CheerpJ (JVM replacement for the browser) in mind in particular.

With great pride we are releasing an upgrade to WebVM: our #WebAssembly powered X86 virtual machine running fully client side.
We now even support TCP and UDP traffic, via @Tailscale DERPs!
Turns out networking from a browser tab was possible after all.

This is the second web engine implementation that will unblock tail calls from moving to phase 4! Very exciting to see new progress here. Thanks to @leaningtech for working on this!
Replying to @carlo_piovesan
WebAssembly tail-call proposal is for now supported by V8, that powers Chrome-family or Edge browsers, plus node and deno, while when this PR (github.com/WebKit/WebKit/pul…) will allow JavaScriptCore (behind Safari and the newer addition #bunjs) to get there. 3/4

Thanks to the team @leaningtech for helping pull this out, and in particular to @alexpignotti for the extensive code review sessions. We believe this to be the first of a new class of optimizations on LLVM's IR.
Looking forward to any feedback!
