“12:15am. He wakes me up to let me know our boy has a high blood sugar. He’s incredible. Even when he’s sleeping, he wakes up when he smells a problem with our boy. He then hops onto my bed and wakes me up. He beats the Dexcom CGM by 15-30+ minutes consistently!
Being a diabetic alert dog to a little boy is a lot of work and he does an incredible job. But his ability to continue that work at night when he’s sleeping is NEXT LEVEL INCREDIBLE. “

We are aware that today's comments from the Education Secretary, @bphillipsonMP, regarding a complete prohibition of mobile phones in schools may cause concern for children living with type 1 diabetes and their families.
bbc.in/4jWxBIC
We want to reassure everyone affected by T1D that official Government guidance is clear. Schools have a duty to make reasonable adjustments where necessary, including for pupils with medical conditions. The guidance explicitly states that 'pupils with diabetes may use continuous glucose monitoring with a sensor linked to their mobile phone to monitor blood sugar levels' and concludes that it would not be reasonable for a school to prevent a pupil from using their phone for this purpose.
Here at Breakthrough T1D, we'll continue to engage with policymakers to ensure children with type 1 diabetes are safe, supported and able to manage their condition effectively. We will always advocate for the needs of our community.

“I feel like there are lots of extra decisions I must make each day that other children don’t have to think about.
I would love to not have to think about my numbers and to be able to go to other people’s houses for sleepovers and playdates without having to worry about my levels all the time.” - Bethany, aged 10.
Your support can help find a cure for children like Bethany living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). 💙

It’s rumoured one of David Attenborough’s cameramen lives near this one which makes me wonder if there’s scope for an in-depth documentary called The Red Postbox looking at who uses them with lots of beautiful cinematography & David narrating. (Yes please) #PostboxSaturday 😄🎥📮
