The holidays return to the Wizarding World of #HarryPotter @UniversalORL today! Click on our post to read about some of the festivities you will find there this year: the-leaky-cauldron.org/2024/…

Would you have joined Dumbledore's Army? Would you have trusted #HarryPotter as a teacher? Would you have been afraid of getting in trouble w/the school, the Ministry, or your parents? Or would you have been eager to learn some new magic and fight the oppressors?

Can it be 23 years?!? The first film, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", premiered in London on this date in 2001. Were you there? Did you see the film as soon as it opened near you? We did and we've never been the same since! #itsapotterlife #HarryPotter

It's not yet Halloween -- is it too soon to be thinking of holiday gifts?!? Over the next few months, we will be sharing some ideas for Potter-themed gifts for the Potter fans in your life -- including yourself! What are your ideas for purchased or homemade Potter-themed gifts?

The Hogwarts Halloween feast in the Great Hall looks delicious with all those sweets & treats & decorations. But Harry generously agrees to miss it in his second year to attend Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday Party. Would you have been as gracious? Or perhaps attended briefly?

What did you think of young Tom Riddle when Dumbledore met him in the orphanage? If you hadn't known, would you have foreseen the evil he was capable of based on his attitude & behaviour in that scene? Was he doomed from lack of love or could he have changed his course in life?

Must have been a great feeling to know that his #wizardingworld friends had not forgotten him, and he was getting out of Little Whinging. He later understood why Dumbledore had limited his magical contact & info, but it was painful & inscrutable at the time.

Would you have dropped your Halloween sweets in the Great Hall in shock & gone back to your house common room at the behest of the Headmaster & your prefects....or would you have hidden somewhere in the castle hoping for a glimpse of a real troll?

Congratulations to Seth Rappaport, our Back-to-Hogwarts essay contest winner. Seth attends Ilvermorny, and you can read his winning essay, written on the train to school, here: the-leaky-cauldron.org/2024/…

Merlin's Beard! On Thursday, November 14, the Food Network & Max will air a Harry Potter-themed bake-off show, in the style of the Great British Bake Off, hosted by Fred and George! After this 'taste', we can't wait to see the whole show! Are you excited? youtu.be/WktqqvcCSVA?si=62BC…

We're still mourning the death of Maggie Smith but we can't help noticing that it's October, when our thoughts inevitably turn to Hogwarts at Halloween & how much we'd love to be there, troll notwithstanding. What is your favourite aspect of Halloween celebrations at Hogwarts?

Our hearts are heavy today with the news of Dame Maggie Smith's passing. Raise your wands 🪄and share your favourite Professor McGonagall story.

Sept 19: Happy 45th Birthday to Hermione Granger, brightest witch of her age! What do you think she is doing to celebrate? Going to the Weasley's house for a birthday dinner and cake baked by Molly? Or perhaps a quiet dinner out at a fancy restaurant in Muggle London with Ron?

Would you wish Dolores Umbridge a Happy Birthday today? We admit it: we'd have a hard time wishing her happiness any day of the year, even her birthday, given the misery she sought to inflict on others. Do you think she has had time to reflect on her ways and repent in Azkaban?

It's almost time to go back to Hogwarts and we have a contest to make the journey even more thrilling this year: the-leaky-cauldron.org/2024/…

Happy 33rd Birthday to Evanna Lynch, who played our beloved Luna Lovegood in the #HarryPotter films. What do you think she'd like for her birthday? Dirigible plum tart? An Erumpent horn for her living room wall?

It's mid-August already. Have you been to Diagon Alley to get your school supplies yet? Will you be bringing a cat, toad, or owl this academic year? What's its name?

Happy Birthday to Ginevra Molly Weasley, much-wanted daughter toughened up by six big brothers, wife to #harrypotter, professional Quidditch player, & journalist. We hope Harry & her children throw her a festive party with lots of cake.

We are not going to lose hope that @Scholastic will change its mind & @minalima will finish the series. It is unconscionable to stop in the middle! We all want to complete our sets and the remaining books *will sell* if they are made!
