Why are companies mailing strangers gifts again? Now that AI has made outreach free, nobody trusts it anymore. Sales has run into this before. Door-to-door selling was banned in a lot of towns, junk mail took over the mailbox, and spam took over the inbox. So the gifts are back. Some sales teams now track what a gift costs per meeting booked and compare it to what they spend on LinkedIn ads. We asked the people behind Goody, &Open, and Wildcard what gifting costs, what the ROI is and when it gets creepy. 0:00 Intro 0:39 A short history of sales 3:34 Why gifts work 5:38 What a meeting costs 7:20 Goodwill vs. bribe 8:26 Gifts people post about 10:18 Wildcard's mystery gift 11:55 The AI cake 13:00 How not to be creepy 13:47 The bottom line

The big worry for the AI industry in the short term is that customers have started aggressively bargain-hunting. They're switching to cheaper models and switching between models more often. As a result, spending on AI is plateauing even as everyone uses more AI.
Talk of an AI bust is back. AI is earning a lot more money than it did last year, but data centers are being built with a lot more debt. noahpinion.blog/p/ai-vs-the-…

“It’s not that businesses are using AI less — in fact, they’re using it more and more.” They’re “beginning to bargain-hunt.” @Noahpinion uses our AI Index data from @arakharazian to ask who captures the value as AI gets cheaper. Read: noahpinion.blog/p/ai-vs-the-…

Ramp data is so good 🤝
OpenAI has grown its business tremendously over the last quarter (token spend by businesses has doubled since June). But the latest news on revenues tracks our findings well. Our latest read shows that OpenAI still lags Anthropic in market share (51/45). Ramp data is so good

“We used this at my last company” comes up in software buying decisions all the time. Using Ramp spend data and Revelio Labs workforce data, we compared companies hiring experienced technical employees from firms that paid for a tool with those hiring from firms that didn’t. The odds of adopting that tool within 12 months were 9.3× higher for Fireworks AI, 8.7× for Higgsfield AI, and 8.6× for Modal. Job changes account for a minority of adoption overall. But for young, niche software, the connection is much stronger. For anyone building software, it’s worth asking customers what they’d want to use again at their next company.

AI spending is an obvious place to look in 2026. We got curious about who’s still paying for older tech like fax. From Jan–Sep 2026, 13.3% of U.S. healthcare businesses using Ramp paid a fax-service provider. In finance, it was 10%. The future definitely still has a fax number👇
