A plane carrying a mother, father, and their two teenage daughters crashed into a tree in a Florida neighborhood and caught fire. As smoke poured from the wreckage, four neighbors rushed toward the burning aircraft armed with an axe, a hammer, and a fire extinguisher. But to save the family inside, they would have to fight their way into a burning aircraft before the flames spread.
It happened in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The family was approaching a nearby airport when their plane crashed into a tree outside someone’s home.
Hearing the impact, four neighbors rushed outside to find smoke rising from the wreckage and the family trapped inside.
Without hesitation, they grabbed tools and began smashing through the damaged cockpit, managing to pull the father and his two teenage daughters to safety, but the mother was still trapped inside.
With flames spreading quickly, some fought the fire using a garden hose and extinguisher while the others desperately worked to break through the twisted metal and reach her.
Finally, they pulled her free, saving all four family members.
Without these neighbors risking their own lives, this could have ended in tragedy. Instead, an entire family is alive because four ordinary people refused to stand by.
Let’s give these everyday heroes the recognition they deserve.

A 5-year-old girl plunged 49 feet from a moving cruise ship into the open ocean. Her father heard his wife screaming and raced toward the railing, only to discover that their daughter was gone.
It happened aboard the Disney Dream near the Bahamas, where a family vacation took a terrifying turn when the little girl fell from the ship’s fourth deck.
When her father realized what had happened, he jumped overboard after her, plunging nearly 50 feet into the ocean. But when he surfaced, he couldn’t see his daughter anywhere.
He began desperately calling out for her, searching the water until he finally heard her calling back. He swam toward her and managed to reach her, but they were still stranded in the open ocean as the massive cruise ship began turning around.
For roughly 20 minutes, he kept his little girl afloat, holding her above the water until a rescue boat finally reached them and brought them back to safety.
Both survived, although the father suffered two fractures in his spine from the fall.
It takes an incredible amount of courage to jump nearly 50 feet into the open ocean, not knowing what awaits you below. But this father didn’t hesitate to put his own life on the line for his little girl. Thank God they both made it home.

That pinecone in your bathroom is completely dead. Not a single cell in the whole thing is alive. And yet, the moment your shower fills the room with steam, it closes up on its own. Dead wood, reacting to moisture, all by itself.
Each of those little wooden scales has two layers inside. The bottom layer soaks up water and swells by about 20%. The top layer barely moves. So when one side gets bigger and the other stays put, the whole scale bends upward and curls shut, same way a piece of paper curls when one side gets wet. Air dries out, bottom layer shrinks, scale drops open again. Pine trees have been running this exact design for about 390 million years, more than 150 million years before the first dinosaurs showed up.
It does all of this for one reason: seeds. If seeds fell during rain, they'd just land right next to the parent tree and fight for the same sunlight. So the cone seals shut and waits. When conditions turn dry and windy, scales open and lightweight seeds catch the breeze and travel way farther from home. Look closely and the scales sit in spirals, 8 going one way and 13 the other. Same pattern you see in sunflower heads.
I had to read this next part twice. In the 1960s, German coal miners pulled a few pinecones out of a coal deposit. Nobody thought much of it at the time. Decades later, a research team at the University of Freiburg got hold of them and figured out one was about 120,000 years old. Another was roughly 15 million years old. They soaked them in water. Both still closed up. Moved about half as much as a fresh pinecone, but after 15 million years underground with zero maintenance, the mechanism still worked. The coal had kept the wood flexible instead of turning it to stone.
Engineers looked at this and started copying it. A team at the Universities of Stuttgart and Freiburg made 424 tiny panels out of wood fiber, designed to change shape on their own when humidity shifts, copying the pinecone's two-layer trick. They stuck them on a building's south-facing window. In winter, the panels curled open on their own to let sunlight warm the inside. Come summer, they flattened and blocked it. The whole system runs without electricity, motors, or wiring, just wood fiber reacting to weather the same way it has for 390 million years. They published the results in Nature Communications after a full year of testing. Every panel still worked.
Your bathroom pinecone is a humidity sensor that predates dinosaurs by 150 million years, runs on dead wood and physics, and engineers are still trying to copy its homework.

Imagine a pinecone as heavy as a bowling ball. This giant belongs to the coulter pine! It can be found in California & Mexico. Nicknamed “the widowmaker,” it produces the world's largest pinecones—which can weigh ~11 lbs (5kg) & plummet to the ground with deadly force!

This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.
