October is Domestic Abuse awareness month 🤝
Throughout this month, we will be raising awareness of the warning signs of domestic abuse, with a particular focus on coercive and controlling behaviour.
Do you ever feel ⬇️
- Belittled or put down?
- That you are changing your behaviour to keep the peace?
- Blamed for the abuse or arguments?
- Isolated from your family and friends?
- Stopped from going to college or work?
- Accused of things you haven’t done?
- Restricted in what you can wear, who you can see, where you can go or what you can think?
You're not to blame for what's happening. You're not alone.
Domestic abuse isn't always between partners. It can also happen within families, including cases where a child aged 16 or over is abusive towards a parent.
🚩 Our Red Flag campaign was shaped by victim-survivors with lived experience and highlights behaviours that are often dismissed, excused or overlooked, but can be signs of domestic abuse.
Too often, people experiencing domestic abuse don't recognise the red flags - by helping people spot the warning signs, we can encourage more people to seek support and report abuse when they're ready ❤️
If you need any support, advice or feel like you've spotted the 'red flags, please visit our website, we're here to help ❤️ orlo.uk/XPIz0
