We've published our official JavaScript SDK on @jsr_io. In Deno, we can use web standard interfaces like WebSocket on the server, as in this example with the Realtime API. Let us know what you think! πŸ¦•

It's done. Now it’s your turn, @Oracle. We’ve submitted a formal petition to cancel the JavaScript trademark: it is generic, Oracle has abandoned it, and Oracle committed fraud on the USPTO during the last trademark renewal. Oracle has until January 4th to respond, or the case will go into default, which will result in the trademark being canceled. It's time to #FreeJavaScript. deno.com/blog/deno-v-oracle

It's even simpler in Deno. You can directly use prompt() WebAPI: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/…
TIL you can prompt folks on your CLI without a library 🀯 Node's built-ins are absolutely nuts.

What if I told you you could run a @tldraw desktop app with just a URL? Well, you can, thanks to @deno_land and an OSS library I'm working on. So stoked to have this working. deno run raw.githubusercontent.com/ze…

10k signatories on the trademark letter! Clearly I'm not the only one who is frustrated by this. javascript.tm/signatories First I gotta get Deno 2 shipped but then start the USPTO petition in October.

TypeScript excitement πŸ˜‰ Congrats to @acutmore on releasing a brand new type-stripping compiler: ts-blank-space ✨ ⚑️ 5.6x faster than tsc due to zero-codegen πŸ”· Written in TS πŸ’― Uses the official TS parser 🎯 Accurate/preserved source locations πŸ’ͺ Battle-tested in production
Today, I'm releasing a TypeScript compiler called ts-blank-space 🎈 We use this at @TechAtBloomberg to perform type-stripping on a modern subset of TypeScript. It's written in TypeScript and is fast because it uses whitespace to enable work-skipping. bloomberg.github.io/ts-blank…

I wrote this open letter because I believe the "JavaScript" trademark has been abandoned by @Oracle as defined in US trademark law. "JavaScript" is a generic term for the world's most popular programming language - not an Oracle product. If you agree, please sign the letter to give weight to this cause.
Help us spread the word β€” it's time to #FreeJavaScript. javascript.tm
