VIF hosted a discussion on “BRICS Role and Priorities in Building a Resilient and Sustainable Global Order” on 12 August 2026. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Arvind Gupta, Director, VIF, thanked all the speakers and emphasised that BRICS is a continuing process. He noted that India’s Presidency is progressing well and expressed confidence that its initiatives and priorities will continue to take shape and gain momentum. He highlighted that BRICS countries have built a platform that continues to expand and become increasingly enriched. He identified two important dimensions of BRICS—the philosophical and the practical—emphasising that there is considerable capacity within BRICS countries that can be shared for greater cooperation and shared prosperity. He suggested an AI dialogue among BRICS nations and called for a civilisational dialogue bringing India and other BRICS countries together. He also stressed the need to place greater emphasis on connectivity among BRICS countries, which would give the organisation greater visibility at the level of ordinary people. Finally, he remarked that “BRICS has arrived” and reiterated that it is an ongoing process of expansion, enrichment, and cooperation. #BRICS #BRICSPresidency #India #BRICS2026 #InternationalCooperation #GlobalSouth #Multilateralism #AI #Connectivity #CivilizationalDialogue #SharedProsperity #Cooperation

Dr Arvind Gupta in the article talks about how the US is retreating from Globalism but not from global power. It remains influential, but on its own terms which is economically driven, selective in commitments and unapologetically self interested. He also focuses on how countries like India must adapt to this new, tougher and transactional America. @lbscidsa vifindia.org/article/2025/de…

How will India react to US sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil? Will India now stop buying Russian oil? India's much celebrated strategic autonomy (Izzat) will now be tested.

HIB visas row. This is a God-sent opportunity to bring back talent we lost to the US. Indian government and industry should announce welcome back schemes. This is better than seeing Indians coming back in chains in military planes. Hope the government does not miss this chance.

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff delivered an insightful talk on his seminal book 'Ready, Relevant and Resurgent : A Blueprint for Transformation of India’s Military' at the Vivekananda International Foundation @vifindia. In his address, #CDS explained that the book seeks to raise awareness, particularly within the uniformed community, about the sweeping changes being implemented to infuse #Jointness in the #IndianArmedForces, make them #FutureReady and strategically agile. #CDS highlighted major reforms:- 🔹#TriServices integration at Defence Services Staff College 🔹 Accelerated Doctrine development 🔹 Online training & evaluation linked to career progression 🔹 Rank-agnostic #FutureWarfare courses open to services, academia & industry 🔹 Civilian faculty to bring academic rigour to #ProfessionalMilitaryEducation 🔹 E-library system for shared knowledge resources across Services CDS reiterated that true #Atmanirbharta lies in creating indigenous systems to maintain surprise and strategic advantage, and that collaboration between services, Departments under #MoD, #DRDO, #ISRO, #NTRO and others was already showing results. With a sequel to the book already in the works, General Chauhan concluded with a powerful message; "India’s military transformation is not just structural - it’s a cultural and cognitive shift rooted in both Shastra and Shastra".
