262 days.
It’s been 262 days since you were airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital.
262 days since we were told, “We did everything we could, but we don’t think she’s going to make it through the night.”
Since then, I’ve watched you fight for every single one of those days.
251 days ago, you opened your eye, moved it, and shifted your leg only to be rushed back for emergency surgery that morning when hydrocephalus set in.
238 days ago, you were extubated and breathed on your own for the first time.
230 days ago, you felt the sun on your face again.
224 days ago, the cranioplasty we had planned turned into yet another emergency when an infection was discovered.
214 days ago, your EVD was finally removed.
213 days ago, you sat on the edge of the bed with a little help, and I wrapped my arms around you for the first time since the morning I left for work before any of this began.
191 days ago, the NG tube came out, and I saw your beautiful face completely clear of tubes and tape.
179 days ago, your prosthetic skull was placed. Your fifth surgery, and the one that finally stuck. After that, things slowly began to feel possible again.
145 days ago, you smiled for the first time (intentionally) while we played thumb war.
140 days ago, I wheeled you off hospital grounds for the very first time.
61 days ago, I heard your voice again.
40 days ago, we celebrated your 13th birthday at the Foo Fighters.
And today, today you’re being released.
There was never a day I stopped believing we would get here. The road ahead is still long, but this is a milestone no one thought we would reach. Maya, you are the bravest person I know. You are an inspiration to so many people. Giving up was never an option for me, and it clearly never was for you either. You refused to accept the words we heard 262 days ago when you came out of the OR. Look at you, my girl. You blew every expectation out of the water.
Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors, and therapists who walked every step of this with us. Thank you to everyone who supported Maya and our family we could not have done this without each and every one of you.
Now it’s time to leave these hospital walls behind and keep moving forward, Maya Bear.
I love you forever and always.

I’ve just now gotten around to reading @FrancesWiddows1’s statement of claim in her law suit against @uLethbridge. Of all the appalling actions performed by the university administrators, I think the two most despicable are (1) *congratulating* the students who mobbed Widdowson, and (2) the utterly creepy “cleansing” ceremony the school performed to sanitize their premises of (as they apparently see it) ideologically diseased interlopers. The entire school comes off as some kind of cultish compound trying to punish heretics.

What’s cool about surrogacy is that if the child is born handicapped you can just leave it in an orphanage because you’ve no real connection to the thing and the companies that do surrogacy work all that into the contract. Everybody wins.

Perhaps BCTF could get back to focusing on education?
Abolish the Indian Act. We have nothing to lose but our chains.
We will, of course, need new legislation that is an interface between the Federal government and First Nations. And this MUST be created alongside Chiefs and First Nation governments every step of the way. But it is time to move past the era of this outdated, racist, and patriarchal legislation.
I support Prime Minister Carney’s work to position Canada as a global leader in human rights and democracy. The Indian Act is inconsistent with achieving that vision.
Our laws at home should reflect the values we champion around the world.
It’s time for a relationship with First Nations people that reflects who we are as Canadians today, recognizes nationhood, and lives up to the true nature of reconciliation.

Tomorrow I will be voting out the BC NDP government for Amy Hamm & all British Columbians being dragged through lawfare because they state biological reality.
It's not the role of the government or a morally corrupt Human Rights Tribunal, to tell women, what a woman is.

OneBC would turn reserves into townships, repeal DRIPA, end land acknowledgements, give Indigenous people title to their homes, and release them from federal paternalism.
Canada has a choice: treat all citizens the same or break up as a country.
Has reconciliation gone too far in British Columbia? Here are my thoughts.

Her parents must be so proud. Strange she left the BC NDP sign up. Is this what the school system in BC is creating these days? 🤦♂️

Skyview High School’s Sierra & Charlie finished 3rd & 4th in today’s district meet but would have finished second and third except for a boy from Camas high school running in the race and taking second. @TCSWashington

OMG ! Men form a circle around a 16 yo so she can safely speak about having to compete against boys. Activists try to drown out her words with sirens !
When your side has to use sirens to drown out what a 16 yo girl might say, you are on the wrong side

In my experience, VCH leadership is more concerned with land acknowledgements, pronouns, and identity politics than they are with patient safety and a functioning frontline.
Honestly I’ve hit my breaking point. On call this week and just crushed. It’s insanity to do a specialist consult on a complex patient in 20 minutes. If I take longer then urgent care is delayed and the pile gets bigger.
Now Sechelt hospital has no physician capacity and patients are being sent over to me in the night. For the first time in 22 years of medical practice I said no. It felt terrible because the patient gets caught in the middle.
It’s unsafe. It’s hurting me. It’s hurting my family. It’s hurting patients. Leadership at the highest level in the VCH health authority need to lead. I have dedicated 22 years to Lions gate hospital. I’m seriously contemplating resigning.
Whoever forms the next government needs to make people in highly paid positions in administration accountable. Done with mediocrity. Politicians can’t fix the system but they can demand accountability from those they hire in to these roles.

This is the credibility problem in one screenshot.
The Surrey Teachers Association executive is telling members not to vote for OneBC or the BC Conservatives, while the BCTF openly lists electing progressive school trustees among its leadership priorities.
Then the public is expected to believe politics has nothing to do with what happens inside the education establishment.
Get real.
Why is union leadership acting like it gets to define the politically acceptable lane for tens of thousands of educators?
A union should represent its members, not politically speak for all of them.
And if its leadership insists on becoming an active participant in elections, ideological campaigns and partisan fights, then it loses the luxury of pretending criticism of that activism is somehow an attack on teachers.
It isn’t.
Teachers are not the union executive.
And they are more than capable of deciding how to vote without instructions.
Defund these woke teachers unions immediately.

"White people are subhuman," a former Tla'amin Chief told the NWT in Feb 2024, reacting to our story about Powell River paramedic Ted Vizzutti.
“Nothing good defines white people," said L. Maynard Harry. "If I insult white people, I don't give a shit."
Vizzutti, drummed out of his job & smeared as a racist for opposing a request by the Tla'amin First Nation to change the City's name, was elected to PR City Council on Oct. 17, 2026. All the pro name-change candidates were defeated.
