The OSBP also reduced average non-transshipment dwell time by approximately 84%, from 12h 32m in 2017 to just 2 hours in 2021. By bringing border clearance processes together, the OSBP facilitates smoother transit and customs procedures, helping to reduce the time and cost of doing business while supporting more efficient cross-border trade. A 2017 University of Nairobi study of local retail traders in Isiolo found that 69 traders (95.8% of respondents) reported that their revenue generation was influenced by the #LAPSSETCorridor, while 9 traders (12.5%) reported profit increases of more than 50%. The #LAPSSETCorridor has seen over 4000 direct employment by 2016 during key initial construction and in 2024, over 90 local dockers were employed permanently.
