It was brilliant to have @BambosMP and @mikehakata visit the repair cafe today for #repairday. And what better way to talk about how to fix the system than whilst darning socks 💚
I was lucky enough to celebrate #internationalrepairday in Manchester with @factoryintl. Inspired by chats with @InOurNatureMCR, @StitchedUpCoop, Boothstown Repair Cafe, @suezUK’s renew hub and @hellohubbub 🤩

We are asking the government for:
1)more affordable repair;
2) removing barriers to repair;
3) a repair index;
4) support for repair training and apprenticeships
5) prioritising reuse over recycling
I’ve spent a lot of my time pulling this together over the last few months. Delighted to see so much support from repair cafes, organisations and businesses. Looking forward to building momentum for this as a rallying cry for the repair and reuse movements.
Introducing the new Repair and Reuse Declaration! 🎉
We're calling for support from the UK government to move away from our throwaway economy and make it easier for people to repair products 🔧 🧰

Over 125 groups have already signed it. Find out more ⬇️
Enjoying listening to Fast Furniture Fix. Fashion, furniture and electronics have the same problem of being in our lives for too short a time, and a lot of the same solutions: repairs, reuse, rental. With the right policies, these could become the norm.

This was me yesterday. Safety concerns are often used as a reason not to support repair and longer lived electronics, but with more support from manufacturers, repair could be much safer.

@RestartProject's Fiona Dear encourages us all to "embrace repair" so that "we’ll have safer products".
She notes that "if prioritised, longer life cycle of products and improved product safety are complimentary".

🚨 BREAKING: Over 30 activists have occupied parliament.
While the government is in chaos, almost 7 million people are facing fuel poverty.
We need the next government to deliver a proper windfall tax to insulate homes and keep people warm this winter.

#repairday has been just the motivation I needed to get going on some slipper re-repairing. This repair should hopefully last longer than the last one, with the new soles made from leather rescued from a torn sofa in a skip. #repaireverywhere
We had fun making this video for repair day 🤩
#RepairDay is one week away, and we're fixing across the globe!
At a camp fire in Germany, up a tree in New Zealand, on a pier in Copenhagen, there's #repaireverywhere

Aside from an EU repair index 🤩, One exciting element of the new EU right to repair proposal is reliability requirements for phones “to be dropped up to 100 times without loss of functionality”!
I just discovered something amazing. Wait for it. You can revive dead rechargeable batteries with metal tongs 😮. Wish I’d known this earlier. Here’s how: petapixel.com/2017/12/05/rev…
What is it about little DIY shops that is so much fun? 😍 Maybe it’s the infinite number of things you can find in such a small space, or the joy of being able to buy the exact number of things you need. Or maybe it’s just the excitement of being able to finish a project…
For anyone confused by the fact that ‘there is no climate emergency’ is trending, this is a useful thread 🤯.
