Math, or any other field of science for that matter, does not exist, nor is it funded by citizens or taxpayers, simply to provide people with careers! Society has generously granted us scientists with prestige, status & resources in return for our responsibility to advance knowledge, contribute to humanity & move civilization forward. If AI or super-intelligence is able to do that better than our mission has been completed or we can now change our role to help steer it as long as we are able to add value. Unfortunately, academia has built ivory towers guarded by gatekeepers who have taken advantage of society’s generosity. Superintelligence is now challenging these gatekeepers and throwing the gates wide open. That is precisely why they are so upset.
NYU math professor Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI’s Tuesday drop of 722 AI-generated math papers wiped out entire research programs: “This recent dump of papers on Tuesday destroyed the careers of early career mathematicians.”

Drug discovery is where frontier AI can matter the most. Today we're announcing @Chaidiscovery’s collaboration with @GSK, following a successful wet-lab evaluation of our models. Using Chai-3, @GSK found binders to every target tested. AI is entering its proof-point phase.

Wow! This is straight out of one of my favorite sci-fi books by Neal Stephenson, “The Diamond Age”! In that 1995 novel, matter compilers are these nanotech fabricators. They take digital designs plus molecular stock from a utility network called the Feed and then assemble finished goods like food, tools, and more complex objects, almost like these Atomic machines! What a crazy time; every hard sci-fi seems to be becoming reality!
After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development. Different code, different machine.

Today @TheLancet published our AMIE study with @BIDMC_Medicine, the first prospective study of patient-facing conversational diagnostics in a real clinic. AMIE is a research system people can chat with before doctors appointments. Testing AMIE outside the lab with real urgent care patients showed how technology can help gather medical histories safely. Clinicians reported that the summaries helped them prepare for visits in 75% of cases and influenced their approach to care in more than half. AMIE’s differential diagnoses also matched the doctors’ final diagnoses 90% of the time giving clinicians more time to focus on patient care. It’s Google’s first-ever paper in The Lancet’s main journal!

Tohle je opravdu mimořádný projev - řemeslným provedením i obsahem. Vyčnívá, jednak protože Marco Rubio o parník intelektuálně přesahuje celý zbytek Trumpovy administrativy. Ale stojí za pozornost i něčím dalším. 1/7

No offense but 1.8 billion is nothing. Nothing. This problem deserves way more investment and it will get way more investment and it will make revenue and the revenue will compound into a real living breathing new industry.

#Nobelpreis Mazal Tov!

Here's a cool new drug that just dosed its first patient in China. It targets the cancer antigen, B7-H3, and 'desialylates' - removes surface sialic acids that suppress immune responses. In experiments, this activates tumor killing, mainly by NK cells and macrophages. The trial is in China, run by Shanghai Henlius - the tech itself originated from the US biotech, Palleon Pharma. This desialylation mechanism is independent of PD1: in other words, a potentially new cancer immunotherapy.
By my count, China has cleared 160 novel drugs for first-in-human clinical trials this year — so far. One of them is a potential treatment for sepsis, a condition associated with ~20% of all deaths globally. The drug, made by Pyrotech Therapeutics, is the first to enter the clinic that blocks formation of the gasdermin D pore (that triggers pyroptosis - inflammatory cell death - in sepsis). That’s just one of many — we looked at all of them here: breakingground.substack.com/…

America was formed by a civilization that has persisted for thousands of years and which must persist for thousands more. It was the Civilization of Athens and Rome that transformed an infant seaboard republic into a continental empire.

This is, without exaggeration, the best speech I’ve ever seen a politician give. The message, the tone, the backdrop, all pure kino. Hand him the keys at this point.
SECRETARY RUBIO: “Nationalism” became a dirty word. So we tore down our monuments, we condemned our own history, and in too many places we taught our children to be ashamed of the countries they would inherit. In the process we opened our borders, and outsourced our industry, and allowed our militaries to wither and to decay.

I have been right every single time till now, the message was just early. YOU DONT JUST NEED DATA. YOU NEED DATA ENGINES. IT CANT JUST COME FROM A NONPROFIT ORG PLEDGING MONEY. IT NEEDS TO BE USED TO SOLVE TRILLION DOLLAR PROBLEMS INSIDE PHARMAS. NOW. I have been watching the CZI biohub announcements and I have such a different response from everyone else. Why did it take so darn long for people to realize what’s so goddamn obvious? Yes. Of course we need better data. Are you kidding me? Companies like mine have been working on it for years and years. It’s not enough to announce this investment. Can I be honest? 1.8 billion is not fucking enough. And it will never be enough. Data needs to become business. You can’t just open source it ONCE. Data IS biology. You can’t pledge a static amount of money and hope that suddenly we will all have open source data and figure everything out. Data needs to be monetized. That’s why we are building a tox testing empire. That’s how we will continually make enough money to not need a static amount $ pledged for us to crack the data problem.
