May God grant me the wisdom, will and strength to never choose a man over my child. No matter how difficult my circumstance and need for survival gets, may I never be blinded to the dangers I could be exposing her to. This story hurts.
Bryson was 3 when he watched his baby sister get beaten to death. At 14 a gang knife meant for his father took his eye. At 18 he was on meth. Now he's 30, homeless, on fentanyl. And the man who started it all walked free after 9 years.
The killer told the cops the 3-year-old did it. And the reason he later gave for killing her is the sickest sentence you'll hear this year.
His mom had him at 16 on Maui. His dad was locked up before he was born. She worked two jobs and paid for her new boyfriend Peter's college. One request: watch the kids.
Here's how Peter "watched" them.
He smoked dope in the same room as the babies.
He filled the tub with scalding water, shoved both kids' heads under, let them gasp for air, then shoved them back down.
He made Bryson swallow coins, then told his mom "I caught him swallowing coins again" so she'd punish her own son.
When they cried, he threw them up so hard their heads hit the ceiling and knocked them out. Investigators later found their hair stuck in the cracks.
Halloween night. Bryson begged his mom not to go to her second shift. Begged. She went.
In the video below he tells you exactly what happened next.
The baby wouldn't stop crying. "He picked her up by her feet and repeatedly smashed her head into the wall until she was not making any noise, movements, anything. This happened right in front of me."
The neighbors called 911. When the cops walked in, Peter was doing CPR and acting shocked. His story: he turned his back for one second and the 3-year-old pushed his sister down the stairs over a toy.
She arrived at the hospital with a hole in her skull. She died the next day.
Then Peter told Bryson's mom why he did it.
He couldn't stand how much she loved them.
That's it. That's the reason.
The sentence was life with parole after 20. In prison he told everyone he'd killed a grown man so nobody would touch him. After 6 years they wanted him out for good behavior. The family went door to door and got 1,000 signatures. At 9 years they did it again. He walked anyway.
He was banned from Hawaii for life. Last year he got arrested there. They let him go. Again.
Bryson? At 14 a gang member hunting his father stabbed him in the face at the mall. He lost his eye and his motocross career. Meth at 18. Heroin and the needle at 22. Now fentanyl and crack, 12 years in and out of rehab. He tells his sister's murder story like he's reading a grocery list, because every new therapist makes him tell it again.
Half the comments will call him a junkie making excuses. The other half will say he was dead the night he turned 3.
The man who killed a baby got 9 years. The boy who watched got a life sentence.
So be honest: is Bryson responsible for where he ended up, or did Peter kill two kids that Halloween night?

The voters have made their choices on the ballot. Now big business is making the calls to tell a number of leaders of political parties who to go into coalitions with. In favour of big business. The status quo remains or even gets worse for the innocent voter who won't be consulted on coalition discussions...

There is a pastor in the US called Douglas Wilson, he is as right wing as they come. He preaches that slavery was mutually beneficial to master and slave....sort of the same as Helen Zilles views on colonization benefiting Africa. No one would dare say the holocaust was beneficial to Jewish people...and imagine a German saying that. But people say these african pain because in line with thinking of oppression, Africans lives are not worth a whole lot

Expecting Mayor Nasiphi Moya to reverse 30 years of municipal neglect, cable theft, and water leaks in record time is pure comedy. Rome wasn't built in a day, and municipal pipe networks certainly aren't fixed with a magic wand.

What do you mean a South African child cannot get an ID because their parents died when they were young and they need to pay around R3,000 for DNA testing with a relative to obtain one, while a foreigner can simply get documentation for free?

Thanks for the clarification, but I don't think the Constitutional Court judgment is pragmatic or nuanced enough.
There's a legitimate concern that the asylum process is being abused, especially by South Asian and Somali criminal syndicates.
A nuanced judgement would have allowed the procedural exclusion of asylum seekers from countries with a known fraudulent application rate > 90%.
Why deliberately provoke violence?

The core crisis of this administration led by the ANC isn't just policy failure; it’s an institutional paralysis driven by political expediency. You cannot fix state-owned entities, municipal decay, or fiscal slippage when deployment and factional preservation consistently override governance frameworks and basic accountability.

Counting down the hours until you can go back to bed.
Cancelling appointments because you can’t face outside.
Eating too much or not at all.
Staring at the wall longer than you’d admit.
Wanting help but not knowing how to ask.
