She highlighted the Parish Development Model (PDM) as an opportunity to support women-led enterprises, improve access to finance and strengthen household food security. However, she noted that financial support alone is insufficient if women lack control over the land needed to sustain their businesses and benefit from the income generated. Ms. Namarome encouraged women to join enterprise groups and SACCOs, participate in training and take advantage of locally available agricultural and economic opportunities. She also emphasized the role of local governments and community leaders in providing information, strengthening access to justice and helping women address land-related disputes. She further highlighted the importance of nutrition planning and collaboration between government institutions to improve household food and nutrition security. She stressed that sustainable women’s economic empowerment requires not only access to finance, but also secure land rights, awareness of legal protections and strong local institutions that support women’s participation in development programmes.

What gets measured gets seen. Gaps in sex-disaggregated land data make it hard to see who owns, holds, uses, and controls land, and where women are left behind. We cannot address what we do not measure. Reliable, gender-responsive data does more than count. It makes women’s land rights visible and strengthens land governance. 1. Who owns? 2. Who uses? 3. Who controls? The answers will guide policy, budgets, and action. Join us at the 4th Women’s Land Rights Conference, 15–16 October 2026, at Hotel Africana as we move from demands to action. Make her rights count. Make her rights visible. #4thWLRConf26 #WomensLandConf26

Tomorrow, LANDnet, @UCOBAC_ and partners convene the Fourth Women’s Land Rights Conference under the theme “From Demands to Action: Securing Women’s Land Rights for Equality and Empowerment.” On 15–16 October 2026, stakeholders will come together to address persistent barriers to women’s land rights and identify practical actions to turn commitments into reality. Women’s land rights must move beyond promises to meaningful action. #4thWLRConf26 #WomensLandConf26
Women play a critical role in agriculture, food security and household livelihoods, yet many continue to face barriers to owning, inheriting and controlling land. Discriminatory customary practices, gaps in the implementation of laws and limited access to justice continue to undermine their land rights. Moving from recognising these rights to securing them in practice requires collective action, stronger accountability and practical solutions. To advance this agenda, LANDnet and partners will convene the Fourth Women’s Land Rights Conference on 15–16 October 2026, under the theme “From Demands to Action: Securing Women’s Land Rights for Equality and Empowerment.” The conference will bring together grassroots women, civil society, government institutions and other stakeholders to reflect on progress, address persistent challenges and identify concrete actions to secure women’s land rights across Uganda. Because women’s land rights must move beyond commitments to meaningful action. #4thWomenLandRightsConf26 #LandnetUganda

Rural women are at the heart of our food systems, families and communities. They farm, raise livestock, sustain livelihoods and protect the land and natural resources we all depend on. Yet many still face barriers to accessing, owning, controlling and benefiting from land. As we mark the International Day of Rural Women, in the International Year of the Woman Farmer and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, the 4th Women's Land Rights Conference is happening TODAY and tomorrow, 15–16 October 2026. Together we will reflect on progress, tackle persistent challenges and turn demands into action for a future where every woman enjoys her land rights without discrimination, fear or violence. - Bethel Kisaarwot, Coordinator @UG_WLRM #4thWLRConf26 #WomensLandConf26
