Burco was once the thriving commercial heart of Togdheer —a major livestock hub rivaling Berbera and Somaliland’s first capital in 1991.
Today, our booming city still lacks a proper airport.Citizens, wake up and demand it! Let’s revive our glory. ✈️ #BurcoAirport #burco @CAAA_SL

Hear me Out folks!
It is now abundantly clear that the #Somaliland government is complicit in, and profiting from the eVisa rollout.
Therefore, forcing the SL diaspora to pay a duplicate & equal fee at #Hargeisa Airport amounts to illegal double tapping for the same services.
Somaliland diaspora — it is time to come together and demand accountability.
We are organising a coordinated international challenge on the incompetence of Somaliland ministry of aviation!!!!
We are pursuing three formal avenues:
1. @icao — we submit an aviation-facilitation representation requesting an assessment of the issue under applicable international standards, including ICAO Annex 9, and clarification of the appropriate international complaint mechanism.
2. @UNHumanRights — we ask the relevant UN human rights mechanisms to assess whether the documented practices raise any human rights concerns, where the evidence supports such a claim.
And the airlines!!!!
3. @IATA — We request a review of airline travel-document guidance and boarding practices, including how conflicting entry requirements are communicated to passengers.

When someone shows you who they really are, believe them.
Ilhan Omar is Somalia First not America First
Maybe this is the tenth time I’ve seen him speaking to the diaspora, and every single video has been identical!!!
Same old shit!!!
Two days ago, I told you all something. Tonight, I think everyone can finally see what I was talking about…
No @icao meeting No @IATA meeting
Meanwhile Somaliland’s useless so called ministry of aviation.
@IATA’s regional and wider hierarchy is in Mogadishu. Whether they are exaggerating Somalia’s aviation achievements or not, one thing is certain: they have outmanoeuvred our own people.
Fuad has held more meetings with Britain than with any other side, yet Britain continues to support Somalia on this issue. This is not because they are stupid; they know exactly what they are doing.
The Aviation Minister should resign. But the solution goes well beyond one ministry.
Defending Somaliland’s airspace independence requires a coordinated, multi-ministerial response, backed by the right level of diplomatic and political escalation.
Ultimately, the buck stops with the President.

Somaliland's first investment summit, as organisers billed it, was held in London on 14 October at AFSIC Investing in Africa 2026.
Lord Stuart Polak, UK House of Lords: "Investors do not invest in maps. They invest in people, infrastructure, institutions and markets."

17 October 1984, 42 years ago since yesterday, I was in Gubad-Daalaco as a young SNM fighter. We fought Faqash contingent early in the morning. Later in the day I was in Burco Duray where the big battle in which the largest number of martyrs fell. That's why it's a memorial day.
October 17th. SNM Martyrs Day 🚨
SNM is, without a doubt, the single most successful movement in the history of the Horn of Africa.
We owe our very lives to these incredible martyrs.
#Somaliland, Lets remember them today by sharing incredible tales of their bravery.

Today, 17 October, we honour the fallen SNM martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their people and freedom. We remain forever indebted to their sacrifices and the legacy they left behind.
May Allah have mercy on all those who died in the struggle for our people’s freedom. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

For 30 years, Djibouti has been under the oppressive rule of @IsmailOguelleh. The people live in fear, without real freedoms, and human rights are abused. #Djibouti remains locked in oppression and stagnation. I urge tourists to visit Somaliland; where there is progress, freedom, and hope. #Somaliland should also consider placing communication towers at the border, so people can access the internet freely.

Hundreds gathered in Somaliland's capital, Hargeisa, waving American and Somaliland flags after President Trump described Somaliland as "a totally different country" from Somalia. I welcome his acknowledgment of Somaliland's distinct identity. Since restoring its independence in 1991, Somaliland has built democratic institutions, held competitive elections, and demonstrated its commitment to democracy through peaceful transfers of power, most recently in 2024. The United States should now take the next step and formally recognize Somaliland as an independent nation.
