Confidence required! Posture & Positioning are key to safe movement ie don’t get on your arse. Letting yourself slide is not an option 😱 Jim

A day for taking summit photographs! With a windchill of minus 12 & lots of ice underfoot, it was not a day for shorts & trainers. There were also people out without rucksacks. Extra layers are not only for emergencies - they also allow you to linger on the summit & enjoy it! Jon

Visibility can change very quickly when deep snow is combined with low cloud and wind blown snow. This is the view looking down Swirral Edge from its exit not long after taking the previous picture and presumably close to where Zac took his pic yesterday. Jon

The #Helvellyn edges are now in full winter condition with soft snow, rime ice, frozen turf & pockets of soft wind slab. Crampons & ice axe are essential for anyone attempting Striding & Swirral Edges #summitsafely Zac

Be #AdventureSmart - Make your good day better, know your limits...
Be flexible, allow enough time for the least able member of your group.
If the weather, ground conditions or route are beyond your abilities there is no shame in changing your plans.
