📣 Study suggests kneecaps should be resurfaced during replacements
A clinical trial following 1,700 patients for 20 years found resurfacing the kneecap during total knee replacement is likely to be the most cost-effective approach 📉

Given that this transport announcement is total and utter fantasy, it's not really increased it's credibility to have produce a map where there are:
- Two Huddersfields
- *Three* Warringtons
- Hull is both north *and* south of York...
- and York is also north of... itself.

HELP: Followers, if you know David Thornton, author of The Story of Leeds, could you ask him to get in touch urgently, please.
It is a family matter, and one I’d like to help with.
TY
Current hip replacement guidelines are likely wrong. Big differences in reoperation rates (revision/PPF) based on sex and age.
Cementless collared > cemented tapered in older men. Time to rethink age-based cement use!

I’m really pleased to share our research showing the benefits of THR in adolescent patients
@tim_n_board @lambjn @wrightington16
The socioeconomic benefits of THA need further investigation to establish guidelines for the treatment of children with severe symptoms from the hip.

Great question Martin! I would encourage the orthotwitter community to complete this survey
We are looking into this problem. First step is to understand decision making and design a small study to see if plating a gap is worth it? And if so, when? See below for short survey. Please share on your work groups. Thanks

Take home messages:
Cemented polished taper stems did worse when taking into account fractures which were fixed.
Cementless stems better than expected, outperformed cemented PTS stems in those with hip fracture(!) 😲
Cemented composite beam have v low risk

Latest estimates of periprosthetic fracture risk associated with stem brands in England published in @jbjs, check your choices!
- Estimates include all surgically tx fractures, including those fixed
