Tom Brady: “You need coaches that push you outside your comfort zone because that’s how you grow and that’s how you develop self confidence and self esteem. They push you to deal with failure.”

High school coaches chasing stars at other schools instead of developing the kids in their own program is wild to me.
Build what you have. Develop your backyard. That's real coaching.

Holding players accountable is uncomfortable for both coaches and players.
But having players fail because you won't coach, confront, or correct them, is unacceptable!

Coaching doesn’t just impact one person.
It impacts a family.
There’s someone at home holding it all together when the season gets heavy.
Game nights.
Late buses.
Tough losses.
The spouse of a coach in it too…
just without the title.
Don’t forget that.

If a player doesn’t play hard all the time, no skill they bring to the table can offset that. Playing hard is a prerequisite to playing. Period. Nobody succeeds by making half an effort. Make sure your players understand that laziness is unacceptable. Competing to WIN is a skill!

The best coaching advice I ever got?
Want accountability from your players? Start with yourself.
- Show up early.
- Admit when you're wrong.
- Do everything at full effort.

As a coach, emphasize effort and attitude more than winning. This helps instill a growth mindset into your players.

Don’t chase a coach that tells you what you want to hear.
Chase the one who tells you the truth.
That coach has your best interest at heart.
