Third-party testing is still unbelievably fragmented. A brand sends a product to a lab. Gets a PDF back. Downloads it. Stores it somewhere. Maybe uploads it to their website. Then repeats this for every lot. LabTested connects that entire workflow. Testing → structured data → lots → product pages → GS1 Digital Link → customer. One infrastructure for product transparency.

Before you sprout a bag of broccoli seeds at home, check whether it is one of the recalled lots. The FDA closed a multistate Salmonella Bovismorbificans outbreak investigation on November 4, 2026. 34 people in six states were infected between July 7 and September 11, 2026, three were hospitalized, and none died. Sprouts grown from a contaminated seed lot imported from New Zealand were identified as the likely source after lab testing and traceback. The recalled seeds were sold nationwide on company websites, Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Etsy, and TikTok Shop. Gardeners Basics Waltham 29 one pound bags carry UPC 848137042889 and are marked Packed for 2027. Eden Brothers calabrese seeds are lots 1022067 and 1022068, supplier lot W4105. Home Grown green sprouting seeds carry lot code AUG172026. If a bag matches, do not use it, and clean and sanitize any surface or container it touched.

I read the Brad's recall twice, because the contaminant was not a germ or an allergen. It was thallium. The backstory starts in January 2026, when California health officials looked into one person with elevated thallium levels, then tested Brad's products bought at Sacramento stores and found elevated levels in several varieties. On May 19, California warned people not to eat those products. Months later, Snack Right Super Foods, the company behind Brad's Raw Chips, recalled certain 2 ounce Crunchy Kale bags and 3 ounce Veggie Chips Kale bags. The announcement is dated November 2, 2026, and the FDA posted it November 3. Roughly 25,000 bags moved nationwide in October, November, and December 2025. The notice gives the mechanism in plain terms: kale absorbs elements from soil, and drying strips out 85 to 90 percent of the water, so the remaining elements concentrate. It also says manufacturing did not put the metal there. For a shopper, the usable detail is the lot and Best By date. Original Crunchy Kale, UPC 813104021679, lots 33525-1, 33525-2, and 33525-3, carry a February 1, 2027 Best By date in the notice. A matching bag goes in the trash, per the notice, with no refund offered.

Check your pantry for a box that says Tractor Wheels before you hand a toddler a snack bar. Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars are the subject of an FDA advisory dated October 30, 2026, warning of a potentially fatal choking hazard. The advisory covers all flavors, quantities, and varieties, including all lot codes and expiration dates, so a box cannot be cleared by checking a date or a code. The FDA received several reports describing toddlers ages 1.5 to 2.5 years suffering complete airway obstruction with the inability to breathe after eating the bars. When chewed, the product reportedly forms a dry, sticky mass that standard choking interventions, including back blows and the Heimlich maneuver, may fail to dislodge. Some incidents required emergency response intervention and hospital observation. The bars were sold nationwide online and at stores including Costco, Target, and Walmart. The FDA informed the firm of the reports, and the firm agreed to initiate a recall. Consumers should not buy or serve this product and should immediately throw it away, according to the FDA.

One Texas grocery chain, one salad kit, two allergens missing from the label. Taylor Farms of Dallas, Texas, recalled the H-E-B Backyard BBQ Chop Salad Kit on October 27, 2026, after finding potential undeclared soy and tree nuts, specifically almonds, in the product. It was distributed to H-E-B stores in Texas in 13.4 ounce plastic bags. The FDA company announcement gives the check a shopper needs: Best If Used By October 30, 2026, UPC 041220300457. It says people with a sensitivity or allergy to soy or tree nuts may be at risk of a serious adverse reaction, and it reports no adverse reactions to date. A salad kit label has to declare major allergens so shoppers with allergies can spot them before buying. The recall notice says do not eat the recalled kit, dispose of it, or return it to the store for a full refund.

Check the back of your cinnamon jar before you bake with it this week. Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon in a 110 gram clear plastic jar with a black screw-top cap is under recall for potential elevated lead levels. The UPC on the back label is 0688474302754, and the Best Before date is 4/25/2027. SLR Food Distribution of Hicksville, New York, announced the recall on October 29, 2026, after The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station tested a sample and found elevated lead. The jars went to retail and grocery stores in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin between September 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026. No illnesses have been reported to date. The FDA notice says consumers should not eat the recalled product and should discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

What do you do when the recalled fish has no lot number to check? That is the position with Haifa Smoked Fish Cold Smoked Sprats. The October 27, 2026, recall covers all lots, about 560 pounds, distributed in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania through retail stores. There is no safe lot to sort from the recalled ones. The FDA advisory says the sprats may have been sold at restaurants and grocery store seafood counters with or without a label, and may be frozen for up to one year. The fish was packed loose in bulk cardboard boxes and shipped refrigerated. The backstory matters here. On October 23, 2026, the FDA warned people not to eat, sell, or serve the sprats after an inspection found they were produced without the required controls to prevent Clostridium botulinum growth and toxin formation. The FDA recommended a recall, and the company declined, then recalled all lots four days later. If you are unsure whether your sprats are from Haifa Smoked Fish, the FDA says do not eat them. Throw them away or contact the place you bought them.

Check the bottom of your Whole Foods ashwagandha bottle first. The lot number there is the whole recall. The recalled bottle is 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules, 120 count, UPC 9948252099, lot 2025-26227, expiration 10/13/2028. Vitality Works Inc. recalled only that lot on October 30, 2026, for potential Salmonella contamination, after routine sampling of a single retail unit found the potential problem. The bottles were sold at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide and on Amazon from November 24, 2025 through October 20, 2026. No illnesses have been reported to date, and the FDA notice says Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The notice says to discard the recalled bottle, and refunds are available at any Whole Foods Market store. If your bottle shows lot 2025-26227, do not take it.

Why did a second country pull the same baby gripe water lot three weeks after the US recall? Babies' Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water, lot 25122bw, was recalled in the US on October 6, 2026, after FDA testing found approximately 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol, and 0.48% isopropanol. None of the three was declared on the label. On October 27, 2026, the UAE Emirates Drug Establishment ordered the same lot withdrawn under Administrative Circular No. 45 of 2026. It said the product also lacks valid marketing approval in the UAE, meaning it had not gone through the UAE approval process for quality, safety, and labelling. The lot is a 4 fluid ounce amber bottle in a blue cardboard box, best before 12/2028, sold online through Secrets of Tea and Amazon. The FDA notice says exposure at the recommended amounts can cause drowsiness, incoordination, behavioral changes, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Check the lot number on the bottom of the box or a side panel of the bottle. Only lot 25122bw is recalled.

GNC third-party testing caught three undeclared drugs in a supplement sold through its franchise stores. The product was Ultimate Forza Male Supplement, sold as ten blue hard-shell capsules in a Multi-Capsule Box and as one capsule in a Single Pack. Tonight We Ride LLC recalled all lots on October 24, 2026, after testing found sildenafil, tadalafil, and dapoxetine. The items were distributed through certain independently owned GNC franchise locations from 2017 to October 1, 2026. They were not sold through GNC corporate stores. Sildenafil and tadalafil are the prescription ingredients in Viagra and Cialis. Dapoxetine is not FDA approved. The FDA says the prescription ingredients can interact with nitrates and drop blood pressure to dangerous levels, and that dapoxetine use has been shown to increase the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults. The notice says to stop using Ultimate Forza immediately and return unopened or partially used product to a GNC store for a full refund. No adverse events had been reported.

64 percent of top-selling collagen products tested positive for measurable arsenic. The Organic Consumers Association and Clean Label Project tested 28 top-selling collagen peptide products sold on Amazon. Samples were bought from local, national, and online retailers and sent to independent accredited labs using EPA method 6020A, with a quantification level of 8 parts per billion. Arsenic showed up in 64 percent, lead in 37 percent, mercury in trace amounts in 34 percent, and cadmium in 17 percent. Collagen is made from animal byproducts like skin, bones, tendons, and cartilage left after meat processing, and the report points to feed and water as routes by which heavy metals reach those animals. The report counts a product as positive when the metal is measurable above 8 parts per billion. It does not say every positive product crossed a safety limit. Check whether the brand you buy publishes its own heavy metal results by lot.

Only one of the 23 energy drinks and shots Consumer Reports tested stayed under the daily caffeine limit for teens. Consumer Reports tested 17 energy drinks and six energy shots. The daily limit it used for teens ages 12 to 17 is 100 milligrams, from American Academy of Pediatrics guidance. Most of the products tested contained two to three times that amount in a single can or shot. Red Bull was the one product under the limit, at 76 milligrams, slightly below the 80 milligrams on its label. A 16 ounce Bang Energy drink tested at 305 milligrams, just over three times the teen limit. Eight of the products contained 8 to 16 percent more caffeine than the labeled amount. There is no regulation requiring makers to list caffeine on the label at all, so check the milligrams printed on the can and add any coffee or soda from the same day.

If you bought Martinelli's apple juice in a glass liter bottle, the recall came down to the date printed on the front. The recalled lot was produced in March 2023 and shipped between March 13 and September 27, 2023. Its bottles showed Best By dates of March 9 or March 10, 2026, above the label, and S. Martinelli and Company recalled only that lot on April 16, 2024. Maryland sampling had found 11.6 parts per billion of inorganic arsenic in the lot. The FDA action level for apple juice, finalized in June 2023, is 10 ppb, down from an earlier 23 ppb level of concern. The lot exceeded the current level by 1.6 ppb, and would have sat under the old one. The company reported no illnesses or complaints tied to the lot at the time. The FDA notes arsenic can reach juice from soil, water, and past pesticide use on orchard land, and says it cannot be removed entirely from the food supply.
