As usual, the Helldivers 2 community is hit-or-miss. Running into people who don't realize you can't always see chat when things are going on. Fortunately, you can view the last few people you played with and block them.
Holy crap. For real? I wrote about Star Citizen over a decade ago, and its single-player is finally on Steam with a potential release date. pcgamer.com/games/fps/squadr…
Now that is interesting news!
Game designer Richard Garriott has confirmed he will soon regain the rights to the influential RPG series Ultima from Electronic Arts.
"It means I could re-release the earlier Ultimas, but it also means I could sequel them."

I know it took me forever, but I finally wrote up the last 3 sessions with Kora and me in FFXIV. We have finally reached Black Mage for her. Any *advice* for young BLMs is welcome! Come read and help out. #FFXIV #MMORPG tumblr.com/sharedhorizons/82…

Building applications for fault-tolerant gate-model quantum systems should begin well before the hardware is available. In @thecubetv, @kytsune examines how D-Wave’s gate-model simulator beta enables that work. Built around our dual-rail technology, it allows organizations to test error-aware programs under realistic hardware constraints and prepare applications for forthcoming D-Wave gate-model systems. Error awareness brings the realities of future hardware into today’s development process. $QBTS #quantumcomputing

Just started publishing the first chapters of Star Trek Blackwell: Illex. This is the second in my fanfiction series about a medical cruiser that responds to catastrophic and strange mysteries. archiveofourown.org/works/93…

Meta is ALLEGEDLY building their own Google search engine, so that if their AI does a web search it doesn't end up at Google, as Google could then use it for THEIR training, so they want their own web index that they will then use as their own Meta search engine for their AI
Interesting 🤔
Meta is doing heavy heavy heavy scraping on all my sites this week too (and seemingly everyone else's sites now)
So much so that I got load average alerts for it today on one VPS
The fact that they're hitting url2og (my own screenshot service for all my sites) might they're scraping not just text but images too, so maybe they're working on an image, video or just world model
P.S. these stats are just from url2og not even my other sites!
You're welcome @finkd but maybe I should start charging you for it with @cloudflare 😊
Although the new Guild Wars 3 theme is technically beautiful and excellent music of its own, it diverges from the Guild Wars origins in ways that may erase the identity earned by the franchise to date. We'll see where we end up as more is revealed. voxexmachina.com/news/set-ad…
It's always fun when devs leave in the architectural detritus of the work letting this strange liminal permeability become visible.

The adventure continues as Kora and I work our way further into FFXIV. I also thought a bit about what world and data center travel are like, although really the day got stolen by the early encounter with Hydaelyn, I mean "crystal mom."

Tempe police at it again, getting caught not containing their emotions. Mill Ave has always been a bit of a tight space where drunk people get caught up in turmoil. I still think we can do better. millvexations.com/2026/07/28…
Didn't this exact same problem happen with OpenAI shared chat links? Perhaps these AI vendors should also warn that said links will be indexable. Cheers to all the interesting conversational data in public to see what people share... I suppose. bbc.com/news/articles/cly5qg…
Yep. Here we go, from 2025: OpenAI publicly shared links became searchable on Google. The resulting conversations, albeit unexpectedly shared with everyone, became a strange insight into what people say to models (and then share). fastcompany.com/91376687/goo…
As the US heats up on regulating or banning open-weight AI, the tech industry is already pushing back. Anthropic's CEO argued that bans would not be helpful and focused on risk and industry interests. Nvidia's CEO cooked on innovation and the ecosystem. siliconangle.com/2026/07/28/…
I see that Block launched Buzz. So I downloaded and tried it. However, although it can see "agent harnesses" on my system, it cannot integrate any of them, and the solution is not something I want to waste time on quite yet. I'll come back when it matures a little.
Apparently, an OpenAI GPT model was asked to solve the ExploitGym benchmark, and the model Kobayashi Marued the F$%* out of it by hacking into Hugging Face. cnn.com/2026/07/22/tech/open…
