First day scouting for #crop2025. This season is my milestone 10th year as an independent consultant! Time flies.

Is your #wheat lodged and when you look at the base of the plant, it's kinked with a flax-like insect pupa inside? That's Hessian fly. Thanks @SeCanLauren for the samples.

Help us further validate our tests and sample/submission procedures by taking advantage of (one-time) FREE rapid testing for herbicide resistance. The best time to scout is 3-4 weeks after application! Please RT
Safe to say the warmer weather has brought the #fleabeetle population out.

Heed my warning. Not all #phosphate sources are created equal. When I can find where the fert bin changed from one product to another, that’s not good. Same P2O5 analysis, all dry, all sidebanded.
This #manganese toxicity in #canola had me stumped for awhile. Tissue testing and soil testing confirmed. 4.5 pH, >1000 ppm tissue samples.
Helpful tip. Use natures own field traps as an initial #wheatmidge indicator when scouting.

DID YOU KNOW: Not all leaves contribute equally to yield! When applying fungicide for control of leaf disease in wheat or barley, protecting the upper canopy is key to maintaining yield.

WHY!? Canola found around Yorkton seeing the same flower aborting as in Alberta. Do we have an idea yet on the why and how? @CanolaGrowers @canolacouncil
