Decentralized social on Mastodon has UX issues but I'm optimistic. I don't miss the clickbait algorithm! How to migrate 1. Find follows fedifinder.glitch.me/ 2. Find a Mastodon server. What? wordsmith.social/elilla/a-fu… 3. Sign in to your Mastodon server 4. Search for each username

If you’ve moved to the #Fediverse, consider adding your handle to your Twitter bio. The tools we can use to find followers will scrape bios for handles or links to mastodon profiles. If you haven’t moved yet, it’s a lively place ❤️ It reminds me of the original Twitter.

There are now 5,931,006 known fediverse accounts. Wow. +3,682 in the last hour

Hands down the best Autumn we’ve had in Chicago in years! 🍁✨
I just learned how the Astros set up cameras and cracked baseball signs. theathletic.com/3515560/2022… I’m so tainted by the Internet that my first thought was “well, the other team should’ve encrypted better” 🤷

4. I’m glad vercel is investing its resources into a proper native-speed successor to webpack (as it should), and that our work on Vite has pushed this to happen. It’ll be interesting to see how it evolves - my hope is it can be made truly framework agnostic, not Next-first.

Today in Focus (from Guardian) called Rishi Sunak a sentient LinkedIn bio 🤔😂 He was talking about how great of a job he’s going to do.

After joining @vercel and launching @turborepo, @wSokra presented me with a vision of what a next gen bundler and build system could be. What if there was no distinction? What if you could parallelize and cache work all the way at down to the function level? 🧵

Why is alt junk food so popular? Is this just a Chicago thing? Every vegan menu: burgers, nachos, Buffalo wings, pizza, gyros…

FYI - Shopify now has a bunch of workshops you can take that covers new APIs & functionality from functions to checkout extensions - shopify.github.io/workshops/ Highly recommend the Functions workshop if you’re wondering how to use Rust as it helped everything click for me.

The Deuce had a side story about this. The show was well researched and even re-enacted a scene from The Loft with precise details (legendary party, gay mecca). hbo.com/the-deuce

Watch The Deuce | HBO Max

Watch The Deuce on HBO Max. Plans start at $10.99/month. This gritty drama traces the evolution of the porn industry in New York City's Times Square in the 1970s.

A man was executed a block from my house. I didn’t see it but I heard all 4 shots. First to his head then, after a pause, 3 more to his stomach. oak-park.us/news/police-inve… I don’t mean to upset anyone but this is America and it’s fucked up. Everybody has gun. I don’t feel safe.

I was at millennium park in downtown Chicago on Sunday. It had the perimeter blocked off and a queue in front where police were checking bags for guns. There wasn’t a big event, just a Sunday at the park (and lots of people). The cop I spoke to said “welcome to the new normal.”
