See you soon, Mars.
Our twin spacecraft – Blue & Gold – are about to execute a trans-Mars Injection maneuver to propel themselves to Mars.
Since launch 12 months ago, the spacecraft we designed and built for @NASA and @ucbssl for the @escapade_mars mission, have been in space making small course corrections.
Now that Earth and Mars are aligned, each spacecraft will ignite their engines for about 9 minutes each, to begin their journey to the Red Planet to study its atmosphere.
Blue’s engine burn takes place: Saturday 7th November
Gold’s engine burn takes place: Monday 9th November

When you see the speed the UCP acted on the water main investigation versus how little they've done on the MHCare procurement scandal while continually avoid the subject, it sure makes you wonder what a public inquiry would find 🤔 #ableg
Alberta’s government has released an independent inspection report into the City of Calgary’s management of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main, and its findings raise serious questions.
In 2016, while Naheed Nenshi was mayor, he and his chief of staff received a draft-final independent report identifying serious problems with Calgary’s water utility. Nenshi didn’t share the report with city council, which could have spared Calgarians from the chaos of repeated water main breaks and a substantial increase in their water rates.
Nearly a decade later, Calgarians are paying the price: repeated water main breaks, water rates up more than 78%, and $1.1 billion in utility revenues directed into general city revenues.
Naheed Nenshi needs to explain what he knew, when he knew it, and what actions he took. Calgarians deserve answers.

Government of Canada announces new president for the Canadian Space Agency
From: Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
Today, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, announced that the Government of Canada has appointed Alexander MacDonald as president of the Canadian Space Agency. He succeeds Lisa Campbell, who has served as president of the agency since 2020.
Alexander MacDonald is an internationally recognized space policy and economics expert with more than two decades of experience in the space sector. Most recently, he served as the first chief economist at NASA, where he helped establish the agency’s Moon to Mars strategy and Artemis program. Throughout his career, he has held a number of senior leadership roles at NASA, including senior economic advisor in the Office of the Administrator and founding program executive of the Emerging Space Office.
Alexander MacDonald holds degrees from Queen’s University, the University of British Columbia and the University of Oxford. He is also an award-winning author and was awarded the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 2024.
This appointment was made after an open, competency-based selection process.

All provinces rely on independent boundary commissions to draw electoral maps. Smith rejected the boundary commission map and asked her MLAs to draw a pro-UCP map.
This is unprecedented. It's brazen US-style gerrymandering. It's cheating.
The NDP claims the UCP is aiming to use its legislative majority to gerrymander the new boundaries, in order to give themselves an unfair advantage in the 2027 provincial election.

Ward 3 can’t wait decades for LRT studies when we already have the highest bus ridership. We need to improve service for the 30k daily ridership along the Centre Street Corridor. We can’t keep humming and hawing about a MEGA project when we can build dedicated lanes now.
Today at Exec Committee, #yyccc voted in favour of an amendment by Cllrs @YuleLoveYYC, @djkelly & @mykeatkinson that requested Administration advance work on the curb running BRT design and report back by Q2, 2027. This will bring better service to north #yyc versus more studies.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

Spent my whole life writing “hello world” to test all the code I’ve ever written. With our first satellite in space now sending some low resolution calibration images down to Mission Control from our situational awareness cameras, “hello world” has a whole new and real meaning.
