Ten killer whales are stranded in ice off the coast of Hokkaido, Japan today, with authorities unable to rescue them due to large ice floes. The Rausu Coast Guard stated they must wait for the ice to break. This situation mirrors a 2005 incident where most of the stranded whales died.
