OLED MacBook Pro RAM pricing clearly aimed at purchases for/by neocloud SEs (ahem, FDEs)… 🤣
What in the hell.

It’s cool in iOS 27 that CarPlay (finally?) allows you to tap to the album list from a song view, but why do I have a nostalgic, disheartening feeling that Steve Jobs would’ve walked by someone’s desk and said: “Lose that chevron, make the album cover tappable.” Is it just me? (The black & white music icon in 27.2 is jolting.)

Wow, that’s a new sports highlights video format that’s been invented…! Really cool. @MLB
The Milwaukee Brewers never die #WinOurWay

Yes, Game 1 was awesome, of course. The Rays & Brewers play amazing baseball. I got chills when the Rays did a double-steal, down 2, in the 9th, and almost pulled it out. When did that happen before in the World Series...? (I'm sure Murphy tipped his cap to Cash on that one. 🤣) @SlangsOnSports But, I would argue that if/when the ratings are criticized, it's all @MLB's fault. Who thought it was cool to not broadcast the playoffs on free linear TV, ESPECIALLY the LCS, and put them behind paid streaming...? It killed any broad-based buildup to the World Series. Greed over love of the game; simple as that, just like this pending shutdown is going to be... As a certain princess told a certain smuggler, "If money is all that you love, than that's what you'll receive."
Might be tomorrow. Might be next week. But the ratings for the World Series are going to be announced. There will be a lot of responses and reactions — many claiming baseball is dead. Let them. Let them not watch. Game 1 was great. This series is going to be amazing.

Looks like they're tuning in. Maybe I stand corrected. 🤣 (Then the question becomes why is this WS getting big ratings, while Rangers/Snakes tanked...? Curious minds want to know.) xitter.cf/IamSvented/status/2114…

People are watching it, too!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The number is inaccurate because viewership for Game 1 of the 2026 World Series has not yet been released. x.com/paulsen_smw/st…

Tyler Shultz, the courageous whistleblower at Theranos, has pointed out that You Can See Everything is manipulative, contrived, and lacks context to confuse the audience (and generate hype/box office). Elizabeth Holmes played Silicon Valley and her Board of Directors and investors...and then contacted A24 to suggest a documentary before her incarceration, and now she's playing everyone again (from jail). And incentives are aligned, thus this documentary is getting hyped (despite Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder being good at what they do). cbsnews.com/news/theranos-wh…
the thing about You Can See Everything that i would most call genuinely daring is that it makes you sit in the theater for over an hour thinking that your ticket has gone into Billy's pockets and there's nothing you can do about it

bc this is how you learn the craft, through the great works, no? it’s like a riverbed, the functions of film, and what a director takes to them is the water itself.

Ouch. That scene in Digger was hilarious. I’ve never laughed out loud before, and cringed at the same time. 🤣
digger was a documentary

It’s really a funny cold open, but it’s not fine that we don’t make a collective effort to reduce suicides, while we have enough after-tax disposable income for spending billions on “bribing” political campaigns. 150/day is shocking.
The infamous banned Halloween cold open from The Office that you won’t find on @peacock or @netflix. Michael Scott really had no boundaries.

How does Claude somehow know that she has a hamster in her place? Has the Claude Duet agent contacted the pest control guy already…? (But wait — can a hamster give you a 30-second early warning for an impending earthquake…??)
so i've been putting together a list of things i’d need at home to survive a few days without power, internet, or basic services. you know, in case of earthquakes, digital or otherwise. claude’s plan includes a hamster. i don’t have a hamster. who is he. where is he sheltering

If Netflix has been leaning into quant-driven greenlighting that explains why their stories have been rather homogenized lately. Where’s the audacious, dreamy bets that all creatives beg for, that give us surprise hits and cult classics? If Netflix can’t make a couple of those bets a year, who is or can? Well, I appreciated that the ousted Warner Bros team gave us Digger…because it is thought-provoking and entertaining. The difference between quant-driven and human-driven, is Disney’s Star Wars trilogy and trashing George Lucas’ sequel story treatments…and we know which would’ve been more memorable. @mightydudbolt

Data driven prediction is tough with entertainment. Netflix tried to do it and had some hits but somewhere along the line they stopped being able to interpret the data in a meaningful way. Maybe AI helps get rid of human biases on it.

I felt like I was on a rollercoaster while reading Gruber’s iPhone Duo review. Great read. Interesting, deliberative, comparing, contrasting, frustrated, chastising, glorious for a bit, questioning, then a flourish at the end with a big NOOOOO. I’m assuming adding Face ID in 2027/8 would turn it into a YES, but can’t tell. And more fascinating given John hasn’t been a fan of the iPad experience for the last decade (or ever), but he appreciates the glorious iPad-Mini-in-your-pocket inner display. Maybe a slightly larger outer display design addresses the worst iPhone contention, but that’s going to require thinner/lighter, as mentioned by @MKBHD in his review. John’s been a great read since I discovered him around 2007, but maybe he’s showing his age, like I am these days. I’m a little more curmudgeonly, also, instead of appreciating the ridiculous effort that it took to build an amazing device like this (simply pick up the other foldables and use them for a while to see what I mean).

Oh, btw, for 13 years, there’s a VC fund out there that invests team owners’ money and uses football games and players’ branding to generate huge returns for themselves — but not for the players. It’s called the @NFL.
The NFL launched an investment fund called 32 Equity back in 2013 with $1 million from each team owner. Team owners have doubled down several times since, and 32 Equity has now raised more than $250 million. The strategy is simple: the NFL invests in companies, helps them grow through NFL deals (think: data, licensing, sponsorships), and then benefits as a shareholder, profiting off both sides of the transaction. In 2017, the NFL acquired a 3% stake in Fanatics at a $3.17 billion valuation. Fanatics works with the NFL on everything from merchandise and trading cards to hospitality and retail, and is now a $30 billion company. Other investments include Hyperice, CLEAR, NOBULL, Skillz, Genius Sports, EverPass, and Appetize, with multiple companies producing nine-figure returns. Now the NFL is doubling down again, announcing yesterday that it is partnering with private equity giant General Atlantic ($130B AUM) on a new investment fund. By becoming a general partner in this fund, the NFL will get paid to manage other people's money (management fees and carry), and team owners won't have to share any of that money with players (because private equity investments aren't included in revenue sharing). Today's newsletter breaks down the details. READ MORE: huddleup.substack.com/p/nfl-…

There’s no way HR recruiting systems don’t manage wildcard filters properly for various keywords, do they…? In 2026? This can’t be real.

Given the sleazy manager, Alan Klein, actually broke up The Beatles, who started the ugly rumor that it was Yoko, as a diversion…? After all the stolen millions by Klein, at least they all made up before John got killed in 1980.
In 1969 three Beatles signed a manager who wanted 20 percent of their money. Paul McCartney was the only one who said no. For years he was called the man who broke up the Beatles. In the video below, McCartney explains why he fought his lifelong friends over 20 percent, and what he told them to offer Klein instead. Allen Klein had come from New York to get the Beatles. He won over John first, then George and Ringo. Paul wanted a different firm. He lost the vote three to one and never signed. Klein ran the band's money anyway. Paul says he wanted to sue Klein. He says his lawyers told him he couldn't, because Klein wasn't a party to any of the Beatles' agreements. The only way to get Klein out was to sue the band. So on December 31, 1970, Paul McCartney sued John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. In March 1971 a London judge ruled for him and found Klein had made "grossly excessive claims for commissions." In 1973 John, George and Ringo let Klein's contract run out. By November they were suing each other. In January 1977 they settled, and the payment to Klein was reported at about 5 million dollars. In 1979 Klein was sentenced to two months in jail over unreported sales of promotional copies of the Concert for Bangladesh records. Three Beatles signed. One Beatle sued. The three who signed ended up paying Klein 5 million dollars to make it go away. Paul got the blame. If your three best friends had signed, would you have sued them to stop him?

This is an interesting thematic perspective to Digger. Again, if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t wait…just GO. It’s not about what you think it’s about. It takes you in many directions as the origami of Alejandro’s film unfolds, the script, the performances, the cinematography, the palettes, the sound design & score, all of it… Just mf go and experience it.
"This is why the climate change scenario in Digger doesn’t matter much. It’s just a vehicle for asking whether anything on this planet can bring people together. Is it ultimately the theater that can do that? The whole idea of “we’re in this together” is turned upside down. If indeed we are in this together, then as humanity, all of us here and now, are in a big, beautiful mess. We create and we destroy, and so the cycle continues. But we also laugh and cry. We enact tragedy and comedy every day. There is no conclusion because life keeps going and the frogs keep peeping." It’s long but what a great review of Digger! So worth the read. lawliberty.org/the-depth-of-…
