Gino Bartali was a legendary Italian cycling champion who secretly used his fame and long-distance training rides during WWII to help save hundreds of Jews from Nazi persecution. He pedaled thousands of kilometers on long training rides between Florence, Assisi, Genoa and Rome, hiding counterfeit identity documents, photographs, and papers inside the hollow metal frame and handlebars of his bicycle. When stopped by checkpoints, guards often wanted his autograph or recognized him; if anyone threatened to inspect his bike, he warned them it was precisely calibrated for speed and touching it would ruin adjustment. He also hid a Jewish family (Goldenbergs) in his own apartment/cellar in Florence. Bartali kept his heroic actions a secret for decades, telling his son Andrea that "good deeds are done, not talked about, and some medals are internal". His story only came to light after his death in 2000. In 2013, Holocaust memorial center Yad Vashem posthumously recognized him as Righteous Among the Nations...
In 1943, WWII was devastating Europe and Italy was under strict military control. Ordinary citizens faced constant fear and any sign of opposition meant immediate execution. During this dangerous time, a famous athlete decided to use his status and physical strength for something much bigger than winning trophies.
Gino Bartali was already a household name across Europe. He had won prestigious Tour de France in 1938 and was celebrated as one of greatest road cyclists of his generation. Because of his international fame, Italian authorities and foreign soldiers recognized him wherever he went.
When he rode his bicycle through military checkpoints, guards rarely questioned his presence. Instead of searching him, they often smiled, greeted him warmly, and asked for his autograph. They assumed he was simply traveling between towns to maintain his physical conditioning for future races.
In reality, Bartali was leading a secret double life. He had been recruited by Archbishop of Florence and a covert resistance network to help save Jewish families who were hiding from arrest and deportation. Secret network manufactured counterfeit identity documents, birth certificates, and visas to help these families escape the country or live under false identities.
Bartali offered to act as primary courier for these life-saving papers. He rolled up delicate documents into tight cylinders and hid them inside hollow metal tubes of his bicycle frame and seat post. To ensure that soldiers would not inspect his bike, Bartali cleverly managed his interactions at every checkpoint.
Whenever guards approached, he spoke to them politely and redirected their attention. He would often tell them, "Please be very careful with my bicycle, because the components are calibrated perfectly for my training session."
The guards, respecting his status as a champion athlete, would step back and avoid touching the bicycle frame altogether.
Bartali rode hundreds of miles every single day, traveling across northern and central Italy. He cycled long distances between Florence, Lucca, Assisi, and Rome, delivering forged photos and papers to hidden monasteries, convents and safe houses.
If a guard had decided to dismantle his bike frame, Bartali would have been arrested and executed on the spot for treason. Yet, day after day, he continued his long rides through hostile territory, risking his life for people he had never met. He survived the war and continued his successful cycling career, winning Tour de France again in 1948. However, he refused to talk about his wartime activities to journalists, friends, or even his close family members.
When his son once asked him about the rumors surrounding his wartime actions, Bartali explained his philosophy by saying:
"If you are good at sports, they attach medals to your shirt and then they shine in some museum. What is earned by doing good deeds is attached to the soul and shines somewhere else."

I don’t want to hear about how good any running back today is until he bulldozes an All-Pro linebacker like he’s a third-grader and then leaves the field without his jersey because the defense had to rip it off his back just to slow him down.

Canadian journalist goes to Israel… and the two-state dream dies on the spot. 🇨🇦🇮🇱
Standing on the border, she points to an Israeli military hospital treating Syrian women — ages 8 to 80 — who were raped by ISIS.
Then she drops the truth bomb:
“I came here believing in the two-state solution.
I really did.
I’m at a point now where I frankly do not.”
“The only way this tiny piece of land stays free… is if Israelis are in control of it.”
Because if you hand any of it to the PLO or Hamas —
it will look exactly like Syria.
Sometimes the most powerful pro-Israel voices aren’t Israeli.
They’re the ones who actually showed up and opened their eyes. 👀🔥

Unlike @AbdulElSayed, I’m an Arab who is actually from Israel. My family lived through the establishment of the state of Israel and what he calls the “Nakba.” The Holocaust was nothing like the events of the “Nakba” where my grandfather was told to flee by Arab leaders (not Jews) so the Arabs could “defeat the Jews.” He refused, and all the Arab residents who stayed were given citizenship. Those who fled, a large number by choice, were not permitted to return, as often happens in war. That is a catastrophe, a “nakba” of their own making. But there was no choice in the Holocaust, there was no citizenship for those who stayed. You are intentionally comparing a war and a genocide. They are not the same.
Your vile attempt to co-opt the largest massacre of the Jewish people in history, the systematic murder of six million people simply because they were Jews, for your own dystopian pro-terror Muslim Brotherhood agenda is despicable. I see through you Abdul. You may be able to fool Western Americans with your garbage, but we know who you really are.

An investigative documentary relying on anonymous witnesses to accuse Israel of war crimes and genocide was accepted and won an award.

The brilliant Fauda co-creator and writer @issacharoff on Mark Ruffalo and antizionists at an event tonight in aid of the Tel Aviv University Trust:
‘Mark Ruffalo, saying genocide, genocide. You know that there's a kind of people that are ignorant. There are some people that are stupid. He is a rare combination of those two.
Sorry to say that. Do you understand what that means, genocide? Do you, as a lead actor, understand that when Israel allows every day 600 trucks of food and supply to go into Gaza, they are not intending or planning to kill the people of Palestine?
Do you understand?
If more people were born during the war in Gaza than died, then no one was trying to eliminate those people, and the only ones that were trying to commit genocide were the Hamas people.
What is about this guy and many other people don't get it? Even some Jewish people don't get it. Why? Because it's kind of cool and nice to come on stage and say ‘fuck this’ and ‘fuck Israel’.
I believe some day something way bigger will happen to make them understand reality better and won't surrender to all kinds of slogans and cliches and lies that are being spread.’

This is fitting. Dolly Parton is American royalty.
She easily could've been a billionaire, but she just kept giving away her money. She gave over $600M to charity, without any fanfare. When Gatlinburg got decimated by wildfires, she didn't give to an NPO...she paid $1,000 a month directly to families who lost their homes, totaling over $12M in direct cash aid to the victims. She also paid 100% of the tuition & books for the kids of any of her 11K employees. Dolly was the ultimate icon of American greatness: be great so you can do great.
She simultaneously built a formidable business empire, and fostered a universally-beloved reputation that spans every clique in America. I've literally never heard a single disparaging word about Dolly from anyone. I know everyone will try to "claim" her for their pet political issue, or whatever...but she transcended politics and petty partisanship her entire life, and we should honor that now that God has called her home. She was just a genuine blessing to our country, and perhaps the best example of what an American should aspire to be. Faithful. Great. Prolific. Kind. Generous. Humble.

About a third of Dolly's catalog has an under-layer that the Appalachian diaspora gets viscerally. When she sings "from a 48 foot mobile home to a mansion on the hill" some of us remember our actual house trailers back in the Gap.

A machine named Aletta is officially drawing human blood inside European hospitals—and not a single human hand touches you.
Using AI-driven ultrasound vision, the robotic arm maps your vein beneath the skin in milliseconds. It aligns the needle, pierces the vein on the first attempt, draws the blood, retracts, and applies the bandage.
Flawless execution. Zero human presence.
The chilling part? 98% of patients said they’d do it again. No missed veins. No repeated sticking. No human error.
In the U.S. alone, roughly 130,000 phlebotomists make their living doing this exact job. We spent years believing medicine was the one sanctuary AI could never touch—that empathy and steady human hands were irreplaceable. The line between human care and algorithmic precision is gone.

Who else remembers when Israel tried to save over 40 Gazan “palestinians” from being bombed and an “innocent civilian” sentenced them to death so they could blame Israel?
Anyone else finds that fecked up?

There is/was never a genocide in Gaza. The opposite actually, one side (Israel) vaccinating, feeding, helping with all services (medical, drinking water, power) while taking extraordinary steps to protect civilians in the worst urban warfare scenario arguably ever seen and the other side (Hamas) doing everything it can to get civilians killed, stealing food, targeting civilians that do not do their demands. The mayor is a liar and worse.
