That wonderful feeling when you work with STELLAR colleagues. Great work on this video (and the labor it represents), @JMU and @JMULibraries folks!
While Carrier Library is undergoing its renovation and expansion, @JMUlibraries is still here to support JMU students, faculty and staff.

Hooray, I was quoted in this story! Thank you, @TheBreezeJMU, for your work (in general and on this story). I appreciate student journalists so much. breezejmu.org/news/where-to-…
With the ongoing renovations at Carrier Library, students are searching for new workspaces. JMU Libraries is working to “identify, enhance, and promote” existing study spaces such as Rose Library, the Student Success Center (SSC) and The Union. buff.ly/3qyo8A4

I'm so excited for the upcoming transformation of 1 of our 4 campus libraries. I helped write this & really believe it: "By providing connective paths between nearby buildings & removing physical barriers to access, the design...encourages the flow of people, ideas & creativity."
ICYMI: Carrier Library is going to be renovated & expanded! Carrier's doors will close to the public at 5pm on May 11, 2023. We're excited that in the Fall of 2026, the JMU community will have access to a 24-hour study space, improved accessibility, new creative spaces, & more!

Check out this site plan, which shows the preserved 1939 entrance and two new grand entrances (look for "North Plaza" and "South Plaza" labels to find those new entrances):

Having a kid has taught me that we rarely know when we're living through a specific type of experience for the final time in our lives. I mean, this uncertainty is sorta obvious if you think about it, but the growth & change that happens so fast in childhood really highlights it.

Right now, I'm listening to the happy patter of extended, cooperative pretend playtime, and trying to remember it, in case our kiddo grows out of it soon. (And really hoping she doesn't.)

Talked to my students about libraries being the best friends of democracy. Checked my email afterward and saw something from @JMUlibraries about @NatlVoterRegDay and supporting full participation in elections!

I hope that student affairs folks and library workers who plan events or programs for college students will benefit from reading it. I drew on cognitive work analysis to understand how student workers offer & promote co-curricular programming. Glad to answer questions or discuss!
